I can hook you up but you will have to wait to use it. Check out the German Shorthaired pups I have available. When their mother was 11 months old she tracked a wounded deer 450 yards. These are some of the most versatile dogs you could ever own. A Retriever, a Tracker, a Pointer and a lovable old lap dog for momma.
They make ammo specifically for hunting for a reason!

Are they fairly reliable on tracking? I always see them more as a bird dog, but have wanted one for a while.

They have unbelievable noses. At 11 months mine tracked a wounded Doe 450 yards into a briar thicket where the deer finally collapsed. Another time she tracked a pig about 200 yards off the side of the same bluff. When I got to her she was pointing the hog as well as the rest of the sounder. I went around the side to flank them when a sow broke out of the ticket where I tagged it running with a .308 at about 125 yards. A lot of dogs can work well for trackers, In Africa you see Jack Russels uses from what I have seen on videos and read about. I have used Labs, a black and tan hound and my Brittney. know others using other dogs. Quite a few use Blue Laceys (sp)

Thanks for the info. I have had a couple lacy's and liked them. Problem is probably me and impatience. I've had a few that would "track" but never would stay on trail. So lots of looking but no finding.

So lots of looking but no finding. This is why I posted. GSP’s were bred to track. They are locaters that have a strong desire to retrieve. I have friends with Lacy’s and will be the first to tell you they don’t have a very cold nose. If your looking for strictly a trail dog don’t mess around, get a bloodhound. Mythbusters proved you can’t fool a bloodhound.

Look at lacy dog breeders association. Any dog sold through there is a working dog.
If your lacy wasn't staying on track, that was a training issue.
