What are y'all eating opening day?

We will be having our camp pot luck for lunch. My brother and I plan on grilling up some pepper jack cheese venison smoked sausage for dinner.

I thought everyone had an Allsups chimichanga. I didn’t know there was another way.

Figured yall were going to Blackwell for the fish fry.

I bought a couple of Fillet Mignons. Opening weekend is about the only time I ever buy the best of the best.

I'll be by myself this year so I'm thinking about just picking up some tamales.

Was thinking about picking up some beef ribs, but I ran out of time and probably wont get around to it.

My son requested deer chili for frito pies because that's his favorite at the ranch.

Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

Steaks, always steaks. Been bringing steak for everyone on opening weekend for 15 years, and I'm not about to break that tradition.

Silver spurs and gold tequila
keep me hanging on.
Pretty girls and old cantinas
give me shelter from the storm.

B&K's in Bronte makes a really good venison chorizo. I usually get 10lbs of it for every deer I take.

Friday - Steaks/Potatoes over the camp fire. Maybe a beer or two but I want to be bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning.

Saturday - Most of us will hunt sun rise to sun set so no time to cook. I'll throw some spaghetti and venison meatballs I have frozen in the crock pot. It will be ready when we get back to the camp. Then guns away, time for bourbon.

Sunday - If I don't find a buck to my liking on Saturday I'll hunt the morning for a doe and eat whatever is left over

Don't know why I've never had chorizo made with venison. One hog each year is dedicated to my chorizo stash. I'll have to try it with venison this year.

BTY - Cinnamon Creek makes a pretty mean chorizo.
