Saturday in Plano at my nephews rehearsal dinner. Sunday in a cow pasture for his wedding. Nobody gets married in a church anymore, its called a wedding venue. Nobody teaches their kids that when you get married its after hunting season. Azz whipping
Grizz, that's a heck of a buck. Pics after you tag him. It's going to be chilly in that pasture on Sunday. Wonder if the bride considered that? Maybe you should wear your cammo coveralls so you don't get too cold (and to make a point).

I'm going to miss opening day this year. I'll be in Bonham, Texas running my pup Maggie on a double AKC Senior Hunt Test.
Good luck to all and be safe!

Tyler County using a Savage 99 in .308. Pretty excited about using this gun. It was recently given to my by my grandfather, and before him was owned by the person who grew up on the land I'm hunting.

I will be in a bowstand with my Elite Impulse 31 on Saturday morning in Goliad County, just like I have been everyday since the start of the season. Have finally been seeing some mature deer and some new bucks the past 4 days now. The cooler temps had them running at does and following them around. Different attitudes for the bucks now compared to 3 weeks ago.

North of cisco on a 3000ac lease - either shooting a tikka Tx3 SS fluted -308 or my oldest deer rifle a Winchester feather weight in 257roberts primed with some of chads finest. ( used the 257 last year all season and its a deer stacking machine) but my tikka was getting jealous ( and wife bought it for xmas one year) so it needs to see the light of day instead of setting in a safe , its a awesome machine also. Saturday morning wife was setting in one of our blinds had 3 bucks 10/8/6 & 5 does show up. She will be shooting her Weatherby ss 243 - and she is a killing machine with that rifle. My wife thinks this buck is hers: Good luck to everyone this coming weekend

Grizz, that's a heck of a buck. Pics after you tag him. I told my wife she could pick wedding date but must be before Oct 1 or after Feb 28th just for this very reason to never have anniversary on opening weekend of general gun season. She agreed. I've told my son and anyone that would listen to do t he same to avoid any conflict or issue in the future. Heck, even tell them try to avoid having a kid with a birthday during hunting season so to not have that conflict either. Man's got to have priorities. I agree the wedding venue vs a church is out of hand and big $$$. My son just picked a venue for his upcoming wedding in Feb. Good thing I plan to have done my fill of hunting prior to then and it ain't superbowl weekend (doesn't matter to me but many people can't do without the Superbowl)

I'll be in a stand in Stonewall county over looking this set up with a 308 bolt gun hoping for a giant. What part of Stonewall county are you in ??? Got some friends that hunt about 6 miles outside of Aspermont. I'll be in my ladder blind in Kaufman county with my .257 Weatherby Magnum waiting on an old, old buck. Good luck to everyone opening weekend !!!!

Will be using my Grandfather's, Parker Hale mauser rifle .270, even though he passed in '95, its like he's with me still on the hunt...

Not sure what stand I will hunt. I will be on the river in NW Burnet county. Only things I will be shooting are an axis or small pig. I will carry my Remington 742 30-06 or maybe Ruger 77 30-06 and definitely my .22 Mag. We can take one mature buck and I save it for one of the kids.

Fortunately the wedding was not far from the lease. Daughter and I cleaned up and went. Just missed one hunt. My brother said "don't blame me, I had nothing to do with it". I said don't blame me if I show up in hunting clothes.

The wife and some of her friends have us going to San Miguel de Allende, MX opening weekend - they want to see the Dia da Los Muertos celebrations. It will be fun, but I am really hating missing opening weekend at out lease in Crafton. Got a mature 8pt on my mind. Hope he makes it to the following weekend! If not, I hope my brother gets him. Good hunting to all...and stay safe!

I may hunt the tower behind the house. It has electricity and a space heater. Takes 2 minutes to get in and setup. My other pick requires a 20 minute walk up and down hills but has amazing views and looks down a 60 foot easement for a half mile. It also allows me to watch the neighbors monster deer. Might spill some corn 9n the fenceline(its high fenced so no problem there.) Good luck to everyone.
Life is too short, as is. Don't chance it. Don't text and drive.

Brown County, just West of May, TX, shooting my trusty 700 Remington 30.06. Draw for stands Friday night over fire pit grilled steaks and a few "hydraulic pork-chops". Safe and successful hunting to all!
