How are you liking this scope (not the 1-8x model)? I'm lusting after one of these things. Thanks.

so far I love mine but I have only had it out in the P. dog field, didnt need to dial. I shot it once on the steel range there out to 600 and it worked fine dialing. But you know me, when it got dust on it I put it up.
JK. I'm not one to torture my stuff
JG and DStroud is your huckleberry on hard use
after my 2 deer hunts, I will put the 6.5 up and drag the .22 Creed out for more testing. I'll be shooting to 800 and will get a much better idea of the repeat-ability
sorry, not much help.

Ryan's 7 WSM is wearing one. NX8 4-32X Mil-C. So all the fouling, load development, and running down the range I used his scope.
ATACR is more of a shooter scope, due to tube size, weight, length.
NX8 is a fine crossover of shooter/hunter. 30mm tube instead of 34mm. 50mm objective instead of 56mm. A little less travel for elevation, but more than enough to shoot as far as you please. 12" length is pretty nice too. I recommend it to him, and he took my word for it. After using his, I need one for myself. The turret clicks are not as positive as the ATACR, but they are not spongy either.
NF on the side of it says it will most likely hold up to me.

Running the NX8 4-32 MOAR and so far so great! Also have an ATACR 4-16 F1 and an NXS 3.5-15 SFP. I don't have a ton of experience with them but I've had them all side by side.
FJG is spot on-
Here's my rank in order-
Glass- ATACR (but not by much), NX8, NXS Turrets- ATACR, NX8, NXS--- my ATACR has the zero set, the clicks are just slightly more 'tactile' than the NX8 Parallax- ATACR (slightly smoother and numbered), NX8 (smooth but slightly stiffer than the ATACR, not numbered), NXS Weight- DRAW- all within 1 oz of each other Reticle- DRAW, basically the same reticle even with different magnification range, they both line up perfect with measured MOA targets, the NX8 shows to have slightly more elevation hold inside the reticle which is a non-factor when at the top end of the magnification. Illumination- DRAW, both Digillum Magnification Adjustment- NX8 (only ring rotates), then ATACR (whole eyepiece)-- this is a personal preference Eyebox- not sure of the specs but I felt it was slightly easier to get behind the NX8 and get dialed in-- could have been impacted by stock fitment issues that are since rectified but need some more time behind them both.
After the above you have all the quantitative data in terms of FOV, tube diameter, OBJ diameter, etc
Hope this helps

^^^^^^^^ Duck Hunter is dead on. I have the NX8 as well, 4-32 x50 w/ Mil-C reticle. Nothing above I would not agree with. The main reason I went with the NX8 over the ATACR was size and weight as the rifle it was going on was for a pure backpacking hunting rig. I used it in Alaska a couple of weeks ago. Zero disappointments.

you cannot compare to ATACR , the NX8 is what it ib Uh I just did- pros and cons-- see above for each- ATACR wins for most but some spots are close... and if you wanna break down value at the current price point for each-- well it's gonna give those F1 ATACRs a run for their money in the market. I was literally twisting dials on both next to each other and I shot em again today. The guys that aren't gonna shell out $3000+ will happily put an NX8 on top for $2k knowing they are getting solid glass, GREAT internals/reliability. And at $2k it's important not to have any question marks.

Thanks for the input. This will go on a T3X 6.5CM. I think this scope could be a great choice-- on a stock t3x I'm not sure how the weight of this scope would affect overall balance- with hawkins direct mount rings you'll be around 32-33 ounces total.

ok the NX8 is better than the crappy ATACR really, I agree with yall but IMO, they aren't on the same plane, This is why NF made the NX8, Nightforce lovers just wanted the same great optic in a lighter platform. Duck, thats exactly why I got mine I was a little tipsy last night, went to a Halloween Party at the compound

No denying the ATACR is the best scope in the NF line up. Better glass, more durable, better turrets etc. However for the price, size and weight with all that it features it’s a heck of steal IMO. You get a lot of scope for a great price.

The mag ring spinning independent of the ocular bell is all I needed to know. You picking one up? I take it you dont like the atacr due to the mag ring spinning with the ocular? That's my biggest complaint of the atacr, with weight being the only other complaint, but i can get over that.

I'll be between Winters and Ballinger second week of January for the doe hunt, if you want to mess my my ATACR.

Seriously? no, i was being facetious. ATACR is the top or under the Beast Wrong again. The ATACR significantly reduced the value of the BEAST. Both have 30 Mils of travel. BEAST has that .2 Mil turret, and a lever for +.1 and -.1 Mil. I think BEAST weighs more than the ATACR. The ATACR is top of the line from NF.
