I am looking to change my ball joints on a 2006 2500HD Chevy. I have read nothing but good reviews on the Snap-On press but it is outrageous in price. I also read good things about the OTC press but you have to buy a bunch of adapters. I have not seen anything good on any of the other ball joint presses. Does anyone have any suggestions on which one to buy?

A good one is going to cost you. Mines cheap.... I really like the new Matco one.

If you're around Denton, you can borrow my harbor freight press kit. I have a 06 2500 as well. Pretty easy job but it does take a while.

Just get the whole front end kit. Upper and lower control arms with new bushings and ball joints already installed.

They aren't offered in Kryptonite parts.

I have rented the ones from autozone/o'rileys a few times, never had an issue and I personally don't have enough use for one to spend the money on buying a decent one. They charge you for the kit and if you bring it back they refund your cc account, only costs the time and gas to get there and back.

Absolutely! I work in a parts store (retiree hours). By the time you wrestle with a ball joint press kit and manage to get the new one broken putting it in - or removing the entire control arm to press the joint in or out (and either your time or a shop's time) - for a few extra bucks you can get replacement control arms with (as noted above) with the ball joint already in and all the other bushings new.

Only at the end do you realize the power of the Dark Side.
