Definitely with pigs, but, after my recent flea fiasco, I think I'm through getting even close to them. Thank goodness there were no close neighbors to observe me disrobing completely and delousing myself. Oh, I got to hear this story - what's the flea fiasco and how are pigs involved? Nothing vulgar, I assure you. Just trapped 3 pigs, had to duck-walk into the trap to pull them out (I'm done with small, close-topped traps...by the by), and while I was hauling them off to dump them, thinking I'd really made a dent in the population, I see a huge sounder, all black. I get out of the UTV and make a "hail Mary" shot, 'heard a "Whap!", but, since I started to feel little critters bounce around on my neck, I decided not to take the time to follow up the shot. Dump pigs, haul-arse back the to the house, get into my birthday suit on the back porch (and tie the clothes, tightly, in a garbage bag and leave on said porch) and hot-foot it into the shower with the hottest water I can stand. And, call the wife on my way back home to have her pickup some delousing shampoo. (I Googled it. ) Another hot shower and, there's now a 2nd bottle of lice shampoo at the ranch. The excrement I get into. This...after getting tick fever from my first trip out to this new ranch a little while ago. The War on Parasite Bugs is ON Baby!!! ( You should see what I do to my navel with Repel. ) Someone just got a new sig line.

I use the black ones you can get them at Tractor Supply. Always have them in my pack or in the truck. I like these, heavier than most, have them in truck, four wheeler, backpacks.

Honestly you're a fool if you're not doing this now. Limits cross contamination, if you're in a limited water area cleaning, or need to do something like answer the phone while cleaning, just pop them off and you've got clean hands to do whatever. I wear 6-9 mil black nitrile mechanics gloves, Napa brand. Thick enough they can reduce accidental cuts or sticks from your blade. I wear them cleaning fish now too, reduces slippage when cutting and holding fish.

I do now that I recently found out deer and other animals can be carriers for chagas disease and bovine Tuberculosis, not to mention other animals and their disease risks.

. . . . I used to think was sissy but now may have some merit.
not at all. nothing sissy about it. first time you get any kind of infection or something from handling wild game, you'll appreciate how cheap some decent rubber gloves can be. i got some kind of something years back from handling some deer hides that i was going to try to tan, and my fingers got swelled up like smoked sausages. an expensive doctor visit and prescription got me back right, but i never handled any bloody animal parts without gloves again. it only takes the tiniest of break in the skin for some kind of something to get in, kinda like the grass burr pokes i have in my hands right now
