Had a great looking backyard until these guys showed up this past summer. Been trying to figure out what it is so that I can get rid of it. Weed and Feed has no effect on it so I am hoping someone here can identify it so that I know how to kill it. This stuff has dang near taken over the backyard. Idea's? [Linked Image]

Not sure what weed it is, but my parents yard was covered in it and just sprayed weed and feed. It seemed to work, but its only been about a week. I use the Scotts turf builder weed and feed that attaches to the hose.

I've used both of these in my lawn and have never had these show up. I live about 200 yards from my parents and my neighbors have it show up to.

Granulated won’t work on those. Find a good spray. They actually pull up very easy, that’s what I do.

Thanks everyone! Yeah, I've been pulling them but went out of town for a week and they exploded everywhere. Spray to the rescue!

Weed and feed is the devil.....it will end up killing your trees and shrubs if your getting anywhere close to them.

That or a really sharp garden hoe.

This. Buy a product that the active ingredient is 2-4,D. There are a ton of them sold at box stores. Spot spray them and you're good. Get on a good weed pre emergent program and you'll keep them from popping up.

I pull them. As BigPig says, they pull up pretty easy. One big, woody tap root. I call them fall asters because they always flower about this time of year.
