How much would it take for you to switch insurance companies. I have been with germania for about 8 years but decided to compare prices today since their renewal rates went up quite a bit the last 2 years. Here is what I was quoted today from Farm Bureau (2383.00) for home(+ shop) and autos(2) compared to Germania (3004.00) for similar coverage. Gonna sleep on it over the weekend but will probably make the switch at end of month. I would say my $ amount would have been 250-300 or about 10% for me.

We just switched our auto insurance to Allstate from Liberty Mutual. 2 vehicles was costing us around $3300 a year. It’s now $2100 a year. House will be switched to Allstate very soon and save us $300 a year with way more coverage, to include the new shop.

The question was about comparables. You have to compare oranges to oranges.

I like having more coverage as long as my home isn`t over valued by much. The higher the coverage value the higher the deductible.

I started a similar thread in August. Some people couldn't understand comparing apples to apples

I never really paid much attention to the cost of My Home Owners because my good friend Escrow paid it.

It can be tough for some to switch home owners depending on the age of your roof. Most claims are for roof damage.

Kinda sad that you feel the need to quote your own posts three times. confused2
Be that as it may... back

The question is about costs. Comparing insurance policies also includes things like, deductibles, coverages as well as processing speed, quality and hassles when a claim is submitted.
A lot of factors go into the process of deciding whether to switch or not.
Maybe he has an orange and wants an apple.

Good luck with your decision TPACK. Do your research and what’s best for your wallet and the coverages you need. up

I use to have Alstate screwed me on roof damage from storm. Switch to State Farm, office in Sanger (Roxanne Hogue) increased home value lower deduct + auto less money per month. Great people in office.

Farm Bureau has been good to me. After the tornadoes went through Canton several years ago they backed up a truck load of money and solved my problems.

Just emailed a link of this thread to Varmit Hunter aka Cody Ballew.

I'll go without ANY insurance, before I give one more penny
to State Farm……….
Frankly, I wish the state, would investigate their insurance practices...……..

I was in the business, let's just say that, State Farms claims practices leave a lot to be desired.

Someone in the business told me if you’ve had the same insurance company for 3 years you’re most likely getting screwed.

I got a couple of refunds from State Farm over the years. They won't sell 2% deductable home owners in my area.

I've had state farm almost 30 years now, same agent, and have never had a problem. Car wrecks, water heaters, roofs, typical stuff. I'll probably stay with her until she retires and then throw it out to the wolves and see where my money goes from there. I'm probably paying more than I need to, but I've been happy with them, no reason to change.

Allstate is horrible if you have a water leak claim, I deal with them almost weekly. They have $5000 maximum if you get like a water slab leak.

They are by far the worst out there for water leak claims due to underslab leaks..

Ditto

But when you do file a claim with SF they take care of you

They have went to a standard 1% deductible years ago, I used to have $500 deductible with them.

Now of days with houses in Texas being so expensive a 2% deductible is obsolete for average home owner and almost silly to have

They have been investigated by the state and had to send out refunds. I got two refunds.

The 2% deductible on home owners and bumping your evaluation up to your appraised value would still be a deal killer for me even if they were honest. Your lot is included in your appraised value.

We have USAA and a while back we renewed our policy and the premium went up just a little so assumed it was the same and like big dummies did not read the contract hammer
Somewhere in the middle of all of those pages they changed our deductible from 1 to 2% and we did not find out until we had a hail claim 2 years later mad

Wife raised holy hell with them and changed it back to 1% for a nominal increase in premium. Lesson learned, always read all documents before you sign!

Do you have an Ag exemption on your property?

I will say USAA is by the best Home Owners Insurance I have ever dealt with, they are on a level of their own and offer outstanding customer service.
