My wife really doesn't care. I've used; "Just think of the money YOU will make selling it after I'm gone." so many times that she considers my collection as HER saving account.

Bought an AR just to piss Beto off.
Silver spurs and gold tequila keep me hanging on. Pretty girls and old cantinas give me shelter from the storm.

Years ago when everyone sued Marlin over their XR7 rifle, I bought 2 in each caliber(25'06, 270, 280, 30'06 & 308) because Bass Pro had them for $238 each, I also bought a few Remington 700 ADLs and Winchester Model 70s for the same price.
I kept a few of the Winchester's, a Marlin in 25'06, the rest were traded or sold for a tidy profit.

Bought an AR just to piss Beto off. Nothing ridiculous about that reason. Way to represent.

I thought I bought a Henry golden boy rifle and ended up with $450 worth of hats....

I got a bargain on an old Weaver K4 with rings so I had to buy a new Ruger #1 to put it on.

I once bought a .22 mag because I didn't have one but I had about 10 loose .22 mag rounds in my closet that I had gotten in a lot with other ammo.

I found an unfired round of 6.5C at the range and don't have a rifle to fire it.

I didn't buy this rifle, your cousin owed me money and this was better then getting nothing.

The sad thing is that I have never needed a reason. I guess that is why I have more than most gun stores.

I "needed" to get my daughters' a hunting rifle they can use. The older one was 1 1/2 and just had the second when I decided they needed one of their own. Of course they happen to choose the grendel i eventually built. Who knows why they were so adamant on me getting a Wilson receiver set but who am I to argue with a 1 1/2 year old. Of course the new boarn didn't have an opinion. I used this same one. Our daughter will need her own hunting rifle. The thing was that my wife was only 6 months pregnant when i used this excuse. She actually went for it. It did help that I told my wife she could use it until our daughter was old enough and I have $200 in gift cards to bass pro.

As I noted earlier, you can always use the excuse of each kid having the same number of rifles to really run the number up as needed. Each of my three girls now own two deer rifles.

I just tell her I found a new gun for her..... There's been more than once when I jokingly asked my wife if I could buy myself a new rifle for her birthday.
