As the title says looking for a Choc lab puppy. Looking over the classified ads it appears that good pedigree and guranteed dogs are going around $1000. Looking for something in the $400-500 range at the most. Is that possible now a days for a full blood lab? It has been many years since we have had labs and our last one pasted last August so not sure what the market is like or what is a reasonable price to pay. Any info will be appreciated.

I believe in the long run you'll be glad you purchased a pup from proven parents with all appropriate health certs. You can find full blood labs from proven parents with health certs for under $1000 if you look long enough and are willing to take last pick. I know of a great chocolate litter ready to go right now. Would probably work with you on price. https://huntinglabpedigree.com/m/puppy.asp?id=27279

Absolutely agree on the pedigree and health certs. I was just wondering if that was the going price and how much leeway there was in the lab market currently. Thanks for the link. I will check them out.

I will check them out. Cheapest I've seen over the last year or two from a decent pedigree with health certs was $600 and that was last pick. I think you'll be hard pressed to find something less than $600 from titled parents.

Brady offered good advice, It's worth an extra couple hundred dollars to get the health certs. My guess is you can find something in the $800 dollar range from a good breeding if you're patient.

I would agree if not for the fact he wants a chocolate. Titled proven chocolates are much harder to come by than blacks and yellows. Less dogs = more demand = higher price. But you may get lucky with a litter that still has some dogs left.

Appreciate all the info. I will do some checking around and keep my eyes open. It has been a long time since we were in the market for a pup so knowing what to expect really helps plan for the future.
