As the title says, I have included as much of my pack list as I can accurately recall from my recent Alaskan Moose and Black Bear hunt in SE Alaska. I started off weighing each individual piece but gave up midway through as it was just too time consuming. Weight limit on the Super Cub was 75lbs including my weapon. If you have questions about anything don't hesitate to ask. I researched at nausea most of these items prior to buying. The outfitter provided all of the food, water, tent, camp essentials etc, so that is all left out. If i packed it in, then its on the list. What is also not listed is that all items were packed in multiple dry bags according to use (i.e. socks, first aid, kill kit, hydration, accessory clothing, base layers, outer layers, sleep bag + pill, etc. etc.). And I am sure someone will ask, NO, I did not take bear spray or a sidearm. I debated this till the day I left to come back home. My outfitter did not require it, it was up to the hunter. Some of us brought one and some did not. All guides had large caliber rifles and sidearms and one if not both were on them at all times. The instruction to me was, your rifle goes wherever you go, no matter what you are doing or when you are doing it. So, the 2:30 a.m. bathroom runs consisted of gun in tow. If I were to do it again I would likely bring my 10mm for added peace of mind. It is what it is and that's what I decided to do.

I made 5 frips to Alaska as I recall, mid to late 90's. Flying in on a float plane or tail dragger, you no doubt have to watch the weight. I remember making lists. I also remember sometimes taking to much stuff, other times not enough.
We never had a tent furnished by outfitters, we brought our own and never hunted with a guide.
One thing I learned was listen to the flight service and the guys working in Alaska. They told me Carharts with a Helly Hanson rain suit over them and those orange insulated rubber gloves the commerical guys use fishing. Will keep you warm and dry in pretty bad weather.
On our first hunt, Comfort Cove which is about 4 miles from where the Exxon Valdez ran aground, it got pretty cold early in the year and rained. I made out pretty good compared to my buddies and all the fancy crap they bought at REI. I used to kid them about dressing for a ski trip. Couple of the guys got pretty cold. On this trip we flew in on float plans and carred nflatable rafts and 7 HP outboard motors which we rented from the flight service. Can cover a lot of ground this way, hunting for black bear.
Wool does good but gets real heavy when its wet.
I'm sure hunting gear has came a long way sinse my days of extream hunting.
Thanks, Billy

So what did it weigh all together? Total weight of what I actually packed onto the super cub to fly out to hunt was the following: Moose hunting: ~ 63 lbs (this is minus the Kenetreks and not including a full Nalgene bottle, but does include a full 10 days of snacks and hydration packets) Bear Hunting: ~ 60.5 lbs (this is minus the Simms waders and Simms boots and not including a full Nalgene bottle, but does include a full 10 days of snacks and hydration packets)
