Those who have reputation for spending more hours on the stand than most folks (especially during the rut), know the importance of taking along something to eat and drink. Taking a few minutes to eat a sandwich and drink a Coke can be like making a rest stop after driving 500 miles. It can make you feel totally refreshed and ready to sit for another two or three hours without a hitch.

I noticed my granddaughter enjoying something the other day and decided to try them myself in the deer stand. Not sure how long they've been out, but Smuckers now offers frozen peanut and butter sandwiches that have no crust and need only be thawed for a hour or so before you eat them. Peanut butter crackers and the well-known "Lunchables" are what you'll often find in my lunch tote, along with a small bottle of water or soda. Yes, I've started carrying a separate lunch tote but refuse to pay $80 for one that has a Yeti label on it. The one that cost me about $10 does just fine.

I also refuse to eat any fish, no matter the size, that comes in a can, or those disgusting wiener tragedies that so many seem to adore.

Peanut butter and honey sandwiches, peanut butter crackers, granola bars and bottled water go in my backpack. I do take the granola bars out of their wrapper and put them in a ziplock snack bag for less noise.

Jerkey, water, diet green tea, couple of beers if I’m hunting in my box, apple.

Summer sausage, crackers, and cheese washed down with a couple beers hits the spot for me.

I've become a fan of cooking in advance of a hunting trip, freezing and taking with me. Sausage, egg and cheese biscuits do great. Individual zip lock bags, with 6 in one big bag into the freezer after I make them fresh. Very tasty around 10 in the morning.

Well Dan, I do have one stand in which I don't worry about scent control. The stand itself is 16' tall and then the land drops another 15' down a little slope at the front edge of the food plot. I've never been busted in this stand by deer on the plot.

I don’t go to an afternoon hunt without peanuts in the shell, I love peanuts and it also occupies my time shelling them, I also sometimes bring a lunchable and can’t go without a bottle of water and a couple of beers. In the morning it’s just little Debby snacks.

You people are weird, I can easily go 10 hours without feeling hungry. Now going without coffee, that's an entirely different story

I normally have 1-2 fruit (orange/apple/banana), PBJ burrito (don't have to worry about bread getting smashed), and a Cliff bar.

usually have a hunk of dried deer sausage OR buck sticks OR summer sausage stashed in a zip lock, bottle of water or two ... sometimes might have trail mix if available. Cheese crackers work well too.

grew up on Vienna sausage (various sauces), sardines (various sauces), C or K rations, deviled ham, potted meat, spam, etc. taken many a bologna or salami sandwich too.

I have a Jet Boil burner for coffee and a selection of military MRE's with heaters for a good hot meal. Jerky, nuts, breakfast bars and the like as well. One of the better parts of winter hunting is simply leaving drinks outside the blind to get cold.

Yes, a heater that doubles as a single-burner stove opens the door to many possibilities.

I have two old Coleman, single-burner stoves and a heat drum that sits on top of them to make them a more effective heater. I've been told the setup is very popular with those who have their ice fishing shacks up North.

The heater I referenced is the water activated heater pouch that comes with the MRE's, so you have a hot entre' vs room temp. My Mr. Buddy I guess could be a food heater in a pinch.
