That would be cool. I can remember hunting in east Texas and quail populations were very good.

I grew up around California quail. The generally like a drier environment. They would probably do better Southwest of Houston and into the hill country.

Yep! Not sure how they would compete with the native Blues.

Bought a few of those one time for training.
A big bird.
The ones I had did not fly well.

With the quail will come the hunters.
Prepare for California hunters to buy land and follow.

They do well in Baja California and northern Nevada/idaho. I suspect that they would do well in the eastern range of blues.

Says everything right there. Why fix the habitat for the benefit of a native species when you can make money easier by transplanting a species to supplant it? Never fail to disregard long term issues for a short term cash grab. It's the modern way.

Pheasants aren't a native species, yet they are an important addition to many parts of the Panhandle's economy.

from what I read they do well in most all conditions. They have been successfully stocked in lots of places and range all the way up to Canada.
