I found more trash today, left by years and years of previous hunters.

Anyone remember the "Varmint Buster"? It looks like it was really, really complicated. I could be wrong, but I don't think the inventors made a killing and retired. grin

Moultrie still uses it, but now it is incorporated into their feeder motor, it works like an electric fence. I tested one thinking it was a gimmick, I was wrong

External battery pack plugs in to those externals and I believe clips onto the built in varmint guard rails. Cook or human touches those rails trying to spin feeder wheel and gets a pretty good jolt from what I understand. Very important to not touch the guard rails until unplugged

Bug zapper for warm blooded creatures.
Worked OK but would kill batteries pretty quickly - we ran rechargable 6V with two solar panel chargers on it to keep it alive thru a single season.
Problem is first time batteries go down, squirrels can make quick work of plastic body of feeder.
