Jason, that's a great deal he got, I paid about $500 for one I bought awhile ago so my son and I can finally get out to your place to do some shooting. Any recommendations on a scope for it, not looking to shoot to 800, but 200-400 would be fine with me. I'd like to keep the scope around $600 or less if possible

SWFA 3-15 at that price, perhaps a (used) Burris XTR II 3-15 or 4-20 if you can live with the weight.

^^Agreed. The scope that makes 400 yards easy, is the same scope you'd use at 800 yards, or 1800 yards.

The Burris has better glass than the SS, and zero stop, and a 10.0 mil turret as opposed to a 5 Mil turret.

Another option is the Burris Veracity 3-15. I was able to get one for around $500. I haven't shot with it yet as my build is not done, but it is clear and I like the reticle better than most FFP scopes. I have heard that the zero stop on this particular model will prevent you from adjusting more than one full turn, however with a 20MOA base and 25 MOA of elevation adjustment, you most likely wont have any problem getting out to double your stated yardage goal.

Have had 2 RAP for a long time 22-250 & 308 it used to hurt my feelings when folks on here would talk about them being PIE PLATE rifles (you know who you are) glad to see you coming around. LOL

Thanks everyone, still pondering what I'm going to do optics wise, but all good choices from what I can see. The only certain thing is that I have never met a gun I couldn't undershoot!

I bought one of these Go Wild Rugers in 7mm08 for my son. The scope is on the way. I hope it shoots good.

IMHO, they've competing well with Savage as the go-to budget option. I've seen reports of most that wouldn't shoot quite as well as that picture, but still very good and without any ejection problems.

Savage type trigger, no ejector problems.

A major thing to me is three lug bolt and 60° bolt throw.

Cut some slots in the inside of the forearm to fit a set of bamboo chopsticks and then pour epoxy over them to stiffen the forearm. It is a cleap and quick way to stiffen the forearm of stock.

The RAR is a lot of rifle for the money with the stock being the only real weakness.

I bought one in 243 for my Grandson when they first cane out. It surprised me just how accurate it was/is.

Stone stock Ruger American Predator shot out of the window of my truck. Group on the left was shot with Winchester 58 grain on the right was Hornady 58 grain, both running over 3900 fps.

I’ve had a few. My dad probably snagged the deal of the century and paid $180 for one.

No offense to those who do, but when I see things like this it just reinforces why I will never buy a custom action.
