Congrats. Great hunt right there. I had a lot of fun last year on the whitetail hunt, and really wanted to try mule deer also.

Go down and scope out the area you will be hunting ahead of time.
We were there for the early Youth Quail Hunt last weekend and I've never seen as much vegetation.

Fields that last year were open grass. are now chest high weeds. Don't know their name, but its those single stemmed, simi-woody stems weeds. A frost is not going to knock them back. A couple of pastures we hunted that we on the verge of being too thick before are now too thick to push though. You may have trouble finding shooting lanes.


...and you cannot believe the crop of sand burrs. We talked with Chip and he said the record spring rains have resulted in more vegetation than he has seen in many years.
