Why wouldn't she point it at the window if that where the threat is? Where the hell should she have it pointed? exactly. She would have been totally justified in using it. Dear audience, Please don’t listen to the mis information above and don’t shoot at un identified targets because you heard a noise outside your window. I’ll give you points for consistency.

She didn't even have the gun in her hand.

Now hearing it’s the media that has been stating it was a “welfare check” and that it might have actually been called in as a “burglary/open structure” call. That would probably change things a little I’m guessing. Maybe that’s why they parked on the side and didn’t announce themselves. Curious to see how this all plays out. I saw an interview of the man who claimed he called for the welfare check. I saw that too, Bill. I’m wondering how the dispatch officer called it into the field officers.

I don't see anything to argue over with this one, the cop made a huge mistake and will probably pay for it. His mistake was even bigger than the Dallas officer's mistake.
This cannot be fixed at the voting booth.. Wake Up You Morons!

CCbird you’re right , you should be ready
Bobs comment about being justified is wrong and shows poor judgment about non threats outside of a window. Poor information.

Doesn't a welfare check usually mean you just knock on the front door? Not snoop around the backyard! What's the point of that anyway unless you know a threat is in the back with a victim which probably won't end well anyway. No expert but just roll up with lights only and knock on door. Then go on your way. Soon they will just make a cell phone call before ever getting out of vehicle.

Had a neighbor just wemt over and knocked on her door, none of this would have happened. Tens of thousands of 9-1-1 calls happen every day this way. God forbid people meet each other, and look out for one another on their own.
Dispatch and engine to a smoke investigation. Knock on the front door, no answer, walk around to the gate, knock on that, announce "Fire Department". Yup, there's smoke all right, mesquite, and there's a brisket inside it. Neighbor or passer by called. Went on that call literally 6 times to 6 addresses on Memorial Day.

Did they offer up a slice for you? I get your point, it is really just common sense that does not get used these days.

A door open at 2:25 AM is a little different than smoke coming from a smoker in broad daylight.
The neighbor didn’t do a damn thing wrong or display any lack of common sense whatsoever. Calling a non emergency number for a welfare check to get trained people on the scene whose job it is to protect the citizens was exactly the right thing to do. Calling 911 would have been fine too. Everyone who has spoken for FWPD has stressed that very thing.

Parenting or child rearing is the process of promoting and supporting the physical, emotional, social, and intellectual development of a child from infancy to adulthood. Parenting refers to the intricacies of raising a child and not exclusively for a biological relationship.

No, put the lil dude in bed by 9 pm. Every time i leave to duckhunt at 5 am, i see the video lights flickering at my neighbors. The 17 yr old kiddo lives, talks and walks like a total zombie.

She didn't even have the gun in her hand. The 8 year old nephew saw his Aunt pull the gun from her purse and point it at the window. It’s in the arrest warrant affidavit. Look it up.

Things neither side is looking at. 1. It's terrible that these people live in a world where they can't call or go knock on the neighbors door to check on them. It's not wrong to call the police just sad that they don't know their neighbors. 2. It's sad that we live in a world where police are being ambushed. To deny that fact would be ignorant. So these officers are trained to think hey this may be an ambush.... How terrible is that? To go to work thinking someone wants to kill you. Which makes every interaction worse. Then it's a self fulfilling prophecy. They are nervous and.things like this happen. So the public has less trust and more disdain.
Putting that officer to death by a firing squad will not fix the problem. No new laws, no protesting, no difference in training. It will get worse and worse and worse.

Knowing your neighbor or not is irrelevant to this situation. Neighbor did the right thing to call police given the hour and circumstances. On the one hand you say the situation is so benign that neighbor should have just moseyed over there and handled it without issue but then on the other hand you say the situation was so potentially dangerous that the cop was totally justified to have been amped up by the circumstances (potential ambush). You can’t have it both ways. Cop was right to be amped up. His mistake was not announcing. And it was a big one.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.
