JUST AN FYI, regarding the archery hunt, next week. We (my brothers and I) had originally planned on camping at the WMA. However, there is no water and electricity available at the campsites. Also, there is a chance of rain in the forecast, next week. We found a place around the corner (2.1 miles) called Fisherman's Point Marina. They have cabins with showers, etc. available for $92 dollars/night. They have a lot of good reviews, online. The staff at the WMA said they've heard good things about them and several hunters have stayed there, over the years. I made a reservation for us. The lady said they still have several cabins available for next week.

Wow that is close, never knew that place was there. There's also a motel where 287 crosses the lake a few miles away.

I have stayed at both Fisherman's point and the motel on 287. The cabins and the people at Fisherman's Point are much nicer than the motel. The cafe at Fisherman's Point is a nice place to eat and overlooks the lake. If I am hunting the area with a dog, it is a tossup with using La Quinta at Fairfield. It's really not that much farther and a little cheaper and of course the free breakfast. Fisherman's Point allows dogs, but charges an extra fee. Not that it matters to those on the bowhunt. Another free option would be the campground at Engeling WMA just up the road if they don't also have a hunt going on. Good luck on the hunt guys.

Looking forward to hearing a report on how the hunt goes. The place I have deer hunted for the past 10 years borders the North unit. Best of luck.

I'll be on the hunt but not sure what I'm going to do. Might stay the night one night then go home then stay the night. It's only 1.25 hr drive for me.

Have stayed at Fishermans many times, and their burgers are great.

Have stayed at Fishermans as well. Also keep in mind, Fairfield SP is just up the road as well. They have campsites with water and electric. And has showers. Stayed at both. If I remember right, from the park to the gate on the north unit is only like 20 minutes.

We stayed at the cabins and they were neat and clean. The drawback was that there is no cook stove or utensils (pots, pans, knives, forks, etc.). We were told "up front" to bring our own towels, etc. But we were surprised by having no way to cook (provided by the staff). We did have a Coleman stove, but had to go into Fairfield and buy a pot, skillet, plates, forks, etc. The fridge is small but we had plenty of ice chests, so we were okay there.
Since we left there, I have searched online, and talked with several businesses in the area. Apparently there are NO cabins, with FULL facilities (cook stove, etc.), in that area.
The restaurant is good (we had lunch there one time), but they are not open prior to the morning hand and closed by the time we got in from our hunt, in the evening.
