the officer has resigned...

Kraus on Monday identified the officer involved in the shooting as Aaron Dean. He said Dean was placed on detached duty and stripped of his badge and firearm after he was served with his written administrative complaint yesterday.

“My intent was to meet with him today to terminate his employment with the Fort Worth Police Department. However, the officer tendered his resignation this morning before we met," Kraus told reporters Monday. "Even though he no longer works for the city, we will continue the administrative investigation as if he did. The case will be completed and reviewed by the chain of command.

Yes. The department acted very quickly.

This issue will run deep through the department. A bunch of leadership and management fail. I hope the city has deep pockets...lawyers are fixin to get PAID.

I’d guess it’s proper protocol to make your presence known and announce “police” or “sherrif’s dept” when doing this kind of thing. You see it on “Cops” all the time. If so, I’d think his partner might get reprimanded as well, Because I didn’t hear any of that in the video. Sounds like a good time for an all hands meeting on it if you ask me.

Unfortunate, the LEO profession is not what it used to be. They cant get great recruits anymore, the "bad guys" have made LEO targets. The only people they get to be cops are the ones who just need a job. If they are breathing, they get hired. Dont get enough training.

On the other-hand, if I was a cop, I would be scared of being a target all the time and could be too quick "on the trigger" also.

Slippery slope for sure.

I love cops.

Yes it is.
As hard as it is to believe something worse could happen so soon, it has.

Welfare checks like this one happen hundreds or thousands of times per day without this kind of ending. Is this a training issue, or what? Did the other officer announce his presence by yelling "Police"?

Not that I heard. They were whispering to each other being real quiet as they were back by the car in the driveway. Then as he walks around the house he quickly says let me see your hands, and no sooner did he get the words out of his mouth he shot through the window. You should google the body cam video. It’s a mess.

Hell we do it, any time we set foot into a house that someone didn't meet us at the door. What if dispatch sent us to the wrong address, what if we were sent by a loved one, and not by the person that loves there, there's a long list of reasons to be yelling "FIRE DEPARTMENT!!!" And the main one is we don't want to scare someone and get shot.

Most of the time we hear, "come in" or "down the hall" ect, ect.

This was a rookie that did lots of things wrong.

Was the police that shot Jerry Waller ever charged for killing him in his garage when they went to the wrong house for a burglary call?

This is the most insulting post of the day. I guess I've just needed a job all of these many years. There are nearly a million law enforcement officers in the United States and 99.9% serve their communities honorably under extreme conditions. You don't get to sit back all smug and make judgment calls about us. I wouldn't trade the men and women I work with for anyone here on THF. Just stick to drinking with the old ladies at the pool. It's what you do best.

This Ft. Worth officer is done. What he did is beyond reprehensible.

Ole Choctaw and bigpig got fired from Piggly wiggly and ended up on the force. Just ask ole frisco buzz.

My nephew is a fine fine young man. Graduating with a major in criminal justice and a minor in Arabic from St Edwards. He's studied Arabic abroad and keeps a great gpa. He's going to the academy in Austin. Honestly it scares me to death. But he's got a great demeanor, must have gotten it from his mom because my brothers temper makes mine look mild.either way shut up buzz you sound like an idiot.

It should be statue that you have to be able to pass a breathalyzer by atleast 9 am before you are allowed to talk smack about LEO’s IMO.

afraid I would get the Forum guys mad at me, that's why I said I love cops and I do. It takes a very special person to deal with the crap out there so civi's dont have to.

I said what I said because I have talked to several retired LE's here where I live. They say the quality of RECRUITS has dropped a ton because not many want to pay the price and deal with the crap ya''ll deal with everyday. To some of these its a JOB, NOT a "calling"

I hope you understand what I'm saying. I am very sorry if I stepped in a hole.

PS I'm not drinking
