I need recommendations for a hunting bullet that will preform well in a 22/250 with a 1/14 barrel twist?

A 45 or 50 grain Barnes TSX would work well.

My two sons have killed many deer with the barnes X .223, never had any problems, good penetration and internal damage, most never made out the sendero.

55gn Sieera Gameking dispatched plenty of deer for me in a 22.250
Are you going to pull those pistols, or whistle Dixie?

The 63 gr Sierra SMP will do just fine. And maybe, if you have a long barrel on the 22-250 and load it hot, and with the right powder, the 60 gr Nosler Partition might stabilize.

45gr. TSX will kill anything you need to watch die. My 1/14 doesn’t like anything over 50gr. It will shoot 55gr.. GK OK but the 45gr. TSX has killed a lot of deer and Hogs for me in the last 4 years. Load it up around 4000FPS and I’ve had it travel through the neck out the backside with a lot of damage at 125 yards from the back porch.

Another vote for the 63SMP...if your rifle will shoot the Nosler PT its a sure bet..but I had some accuracy issues with it.

Pick the one with the best accuracy and load a bunch lol. Just my .02, LeonCarr

Do y'all get pass thru with the 22-250? Seems a little light for me.

I get exits through both shoulders with the .223 shooting 64 Grain Nosler BSBs and 65 Grain Sierra Gamekings.
Usually in the .22-250 and .220 Swift non polymer tip 55-60 grain bullets will exit on heart/lung shots but sometimes the high velocity will cause them to not go as deep on a shoulder. Use an all copper or bonded/partition for those if your barrel will stabilize it.

In a 223 Rem, the 65 grain Sierra GK works ok. The bullet I recovered from a few years ago had full upset and didn't make it to the other side hide. This year, I'll either be running a 75 grain ELD-M (if I get the Tikka magazine modified for the longer COAL) or the Nosler 64 grain bonded bullet. I want a heavier bullet, or a somewhat heavy bullet that will hold together well. I'm not a big Barnes fan, but for a 223 they would also work well.

I have heard from several sources this bullet is designated match but performs like a hunting bullet. Thanks a bunch, LeonCarr

Just from customer feedback that they work well and penetrate well. I don't have a 223 Rem that will shoot these, but I have killed several pigs with my 224 Valkrie with the 75 grain ELD-M. It worked great.

Not much on Barnes either but, for hunting with a small caliber they work flawlessly, accuracy is not the best.

Im also definitely not a big fan of any of the monometal bullets but when it comes to a good hunting bullet for a slow twist 22 cal chambering they are about the only option I would consider. If your head shooting then shoot whatever you want any of them will work. I want dependable expansion and penetration and I will trust no 22 cal cup and core bullet to that task at swift/22-250 speeds.

My dad's old Sako 22-250 has a 1/14 barrel, he handloaded the 63 Sierras, killed a LOT of deer, he was also patient and when he squeezed the trigger it was dead. Taught us to "watch the deer drop in the scope"
I am doing doe culls this month, I like headshots with a good rest.. shot one two days ago with a 308, 178 ELDX, shoot quite a few with the 87g VMAX out a 6mm Creedmoor. Got the itch to do some with my 5.56 next week, looking at what I got in inventory...
Chad, you like the 75g ELD-M? What length barrel do you run? velocity? tempted to order a barrel from Wilson Combat

Chad, you like the 75g ELD-M? What length barrel do you run? velocity? tempted to order a barrel from Wilson Combat Yes, I like that bullet a lot. I wanted a faster bullet for the 224 Valkrie, and I'm running it 3030 fps, or somewhere over 3000 fps, IIRC. I have some loads in the 2900 fps range, and found a new one that runs faster. I've taken it to 1K yards no problem. I've killed a few pigs with it. It's a Wilson Combat 22", 224 Valkrie shooting suppressed. It's a hammer. I'm using it as my thermal night hunting rig right now.

nice! I replaced the 18" 308 barrel in my Wilson Combat with a 20" 6mm Creedmoor last year and shooting the 87 VMAX is a deer smacker! love head shots with it..
trying to decide if a 20" Valkarie makes sense or not.. I have 2 16" 6.8s I run with the 120SSTS as well, 2 5.56s, etc..

Still have some Swift Sirocco 75gr bullets loaded up for the 22-243 that I might hunt with this year. They wrork quite well on deer near or far. They also make a 62 gr version.
THe 60gr partition has never let me down in 223 or 22-250. Nosler 64gr bonded is another good one.
65gr Game Kings, 64 gr powerpoints are traditional bullets that can work well,
