Finally had the sheep cooperate today. They moved to a spot we could hunt them. Took the biggest ram out of the band of 5. Glad it's over and I'm happy with him. Thankfully our newly retired taxidermist has already said he would do the mount for me. He offered a Texas heart shot and I took it. Recovered the bullet from just under the skin on the chest, full body length on the 165 gr Grand Slam, Sako A7 300wsm. I'll get a pic of the bullet some time tomorrow. For those that might be interested, I had him rough scored.
176 6/8 is what he came out.
38 and 37 4/8 length
16 2/8 and 16 4/8 in bases
circs: 15 3/8 and 15 4/8
12 and 12 1/8
7 and 7
= 176 6/8

My first pics don't really do him justice but my ram makes the B&C book. He ended up at 181 1/8. I'll post the score sheet when I get the official one form the scorer. We were all quite surprised as his mass makes all the difference. It will be a shoulder mount, no room or funds for a full body. Thankfully our taxi that is retiring agreed to do him, along with 4 other rams from this year.
He was the largest from the area this year.

Beautiful Ram.... how many points does it take...? I have been putting in for a few years now.... nowhere close yet I know.
