Crazy scene.. prayers up! New Orleans Hard Rock hotel under construction collapses; at least 1 dead, multiple injuredA Hard Rock Hotel and Casino building under construction in downtown New Orleans partially collapsed on Saturday, killing at least 1 person and injuring several. Gov. John Bel Edwards confirmed the fatality to reporters near the scene, saying there were several people unaccounted for. "This remains a very fluid and dangerous situation and every few minutes something is falling," he said, warning people to stay away. Wow.That architect has got some splainin to do. Yep. My guess would be there was some short cuts and substandard material because of the contractor.

Anyone blaming architect or contactor at this point is an idiot. Well anyone blaming the architect at any point is an idiot they deal with the looks etc. That would fall on an engineer. But either way at this point who knows.

I'm in NOLA now for a first responder convention. Was talking to one of the local guys that had been on site doing search and recovery. Sad deal.

They were on the second from top floor and were showing the vertical shoring poles that were bending or deflecting from weight. They were showing the video to some supervisors. Looks like Somebody cut corners on the shoring of floors! There were also still picture of the start of collapse and the shoring gave way on this second from top floor first.
