The lease has nice gravel puddles now, so this afternoon will be much better as most birds were sheltering in the trees anyway. They will be hungry by 3 pm in this gorgeous afternoon weather. Its dove clipper time.

Gettin excited about tomorrow. Love this time of year. I'm going to Taylor tomorrow. My wife is coming with me and we're car camping. Cant wait!

Pretty good birds all weekend. Wasn't sure what the cold north wind was going to do to the birds but they were here all weekend. 32 degrees here with a heavy frost Saturday morning. Had 26 folks here and everyone had a good time.

Saw pretty good numbers at Murray Friday evening. They were hitting the far side of the field pretty hard, but I decided to save that spot Saturday morning. They stood me up.

Decent numbers around Pattison/brookshire, Definitely some bigger bodied mourners have come in. Got 12 this morning and some looked like whitewings compared to others. Also more color on them around the top of the breast area.

Agreed - I have been guiding fields in west TX for years and the only consistent thing is inconsistency. If there is food and water you may have a few birds but until the 1st real front moves in bringing something other than non resident birds in you can bet it will be spotty at best. I have had some tell me "birds don't fly when its raining". Interesting we have had groups kill quick limits in the rain. Other days in the rain not so much. Moon phase, barometric pressure, etc all play a role. They are in fact 'migratory' and it is called hunting...not sit on my bucket and spray lead with the 10 gauge my Pappy gave me.
