I like grey or olive green with stainless.

Charcoal grey, royal blue or navy highlights (trigger, safety, etc.)

I would go grey, olive or FDE. As P102 said, a dark grey would look good.

They look best with a nice wood stock. But since that doesn't seem to be an option, I think flashy colorful like a bright blue would work with some kind of black design cues to tie in the inevitably black scope.
Crud you said receiver not action, if this is an AR, maybe OD with black webbing.
