Nice Buck!

For the gearheads...tell us about your rifle, optics, ammunition, how far was the shot, etc.

Thanks a bunch for sharing your hunt with us,
LeonCarr

Location - Roughly 45 miles from wellington Utah. Elevation was between 7500 - 9200 depending on which canyon we hunted that day temps were 20 at night 60s during the day
Lodging - Small cabin with water and a generator to run when power was needed
Rifle - Custom rifle built by Bob Hart 300 Remington Ultra mag with a Swarovski Z-5 5x25 with BT zeroed at 200 then 400,500,600,700 and 750 shooting 185 grain Nosler Accubonds at about 3200 fps
Glass was Leica 10x 42 with ranger finders built in with a Swarovski spotting scope for confirming

Spotted the buck at roughly 730 am from 853 yards and roughly 500-600 below us spent about 30 minutes getting to 480 yards found a good perch to make the shot just as I got the rifle on the buck he stepped into some Oak brush and disappeared. Watched and waited for roughly 30 minutes he never showed back up. I told the guy I was hunting with I could down but didn't know about going start back up as we started down I told him I was going to swing thru the oak brush where we lost him and figure how he slipped us. When I got to easing thru the oak brush he was bedded under a cedar in a small ditch he jumped up and went to bail off deeper into canyon. I let him hold two rounds and he only went about 15 steps. The rest is history. One of the best hunts I've had in a long time. Will post my buddies hunt later today.
