This is a longshot, I am sure, but who knows, THF has deep tentacles!!

Last night I was driving south on Hwy 16, maybe 1/2 mile north of the Hwy 6 intersection in De Leon. It was storming, and a corgi was running down the highway. I swerved and missed, then having a soft spot for corgis, I pulled over to go back. As I pulled over, I saw a north bound pickup slam on brakes, ugh. He went on, and I drove up to see if dog still there. It was sitting on the shoulder and looks like back leg broken. It allowed me to pick it up and I put her in my truck and drove into town. Called the town hall and they said animal control on the way, but thought it might take an hour or more. It was storming and hailing, and the dog was in pain, so I called around and found a vet in Comanche that would meet me at the clinic. He confirmed at least a broken leg, gave her some pain meds and crated her, with plans to determine treatment today.

If anyone here has contacts in De Leon, I would appreciate any help finding the owner. I already have a corgi at home and do not need another dog right now....

IM me if you can assist. Thanks!

God Bless you sir for stopping to help her. Have the vet scan for a chip. And as much as I despise FB, put up her info there and ask people to share.

We have an intern at the office in Abilene from DeLeon. I’ll forward this link to him and see if he might know. Maybe we will get lucky.

Good job!

Yep, corgi owners typically spend the $ on them. It’ll be chipped for sure

Juanie Silva runs the FaceBook Buy/Sell/Trade page for De Leon. It has a lot of members for a small town. Send her a message and ask her to post up a pic of the dog for you.

Great suggestion! Will reach out now - and, unfortunately, the vet checked and the dog has no chip. Does have a collar, but no tag either.

When will people ever learn. Name tags have gone on all my pups as soon as I got them home.

Agree, Bill. It is cheap and easy, but for some reason, people neglect to do it a lot of times. Other than the lack of chip and tag, the dog appears to be very healthy and well care for, so hoping we can find an owner.

I would think it to be unusual a Corgi wouldn't be chipped? Congrats for going back to check on the dog.

Dalroo, you are a good man. To give up so much time and effort for an animal speaks volumes.
Kudos to you sir!

That was a heck of a storm, I drove thru it on my way back from a football game in Comanche. I hope the dog finds its home.

Thanks all for the comments. Still looking for the owner - vet's assistant is also on the search, so fingers crossed. Worst case, my corgi may have a little sister.

I've lost a couple over the years and got them back. My heart tells me that you will find the owner.
