Big bodied old Eland bull with heavy horns and great dark tuff. We chased Eland all day and shoot this bull 30 minutes before dark. We spotted the bull from the side of the mountain and closed the gap to 400 yards.

We decided to close the gap to 200 yards. The two bulls moved. We stalked in and finally found them again. We closed the gap to 75 yards and the young bull took off. The older bull hesitated for 5 seconds before bolting. I shot him as he ran.

We went to look at the shoot location to see if there was a blood trail. We could hear him a few hundred feet in front of us.

We got the dog because there was a good blood trail. The Eland stopped behind a tree and so I shoot him in the neck. The bull did not go far and the dog located him within a few seconds. He was down. Picture time.

What a magnificent hunt. More that I could wish for in a hunt. Eland are now my favorite stalk hunt. Wow are they weary and stealthy.

4 animal day when I had very little confidence. I thought it was too hot but Bossie's perseverance played off. The place Bossie took me was beautiful and loaded with animals
I must have seen 6 shooter Waterbucks, 6 shooter Steenbucks, and 10 shooter Sables, and tons of plains game. All 4 of today's animals were great stalks.

The Sable was shoot 30 minutes after the start of the hunt. The rest of the morning was spent chasing Steenbuck and Waterbuck. We stalked in several times but something happened everytime.

After lunch we out in the heat of the day. It was amazing. We were still seeing animals. We saw a Steenbuck just off the road. We stalked to within 50 yards and made a perfect shoot. We took pictures and headed back to put him in the cooler.

We were surprised on the way back to drop off the Steenbuck to see a old Waterbuck. We stalked to about 50 yards. We had two tractors pass by and so we use their noise to mask our movements and sound. He did not know we were there. I had a very small window to thread the shot. He was down on the first shoot. We take more pictures and now head to the cooler with both animals.

I hunted a Waterbuck last year but could not get a shot. The Waterbuck curse has been broken. The Waterbuck is my favorite plains game.

On the way back we spotted a bunch of Red Hartabeest with several shooters. We did not have a good shot and so we took the other two trophies to the cooler.

We came back after dropping the animals at the cooler. We relocated the Red Hartabeest. We stalked to a little over 100 yards and took a very old male. One shot and it was picture time again for the fourth time today.

I told Bossie that we needed to go back to the lodge before we fill my hunt list.

The reedbuck was a very difficult hunt over several days and the Gymsbuck happened on the second Gymsbuck we saw. Tonight will be Bushpig hunt.
