Hunters sleeping in not wanting to hunt in the weather that day . ^^^^^ Guilty of this two seasons ago. Hot weather. Nothing really moving the previous two days...so slept in on the third morning. Checked game camera mid-day on the shooting lane where I had been getting only night time pics of a very nice buck and wouldn't you know it....there he was at 9:00 a.m. , pretty as you please. Kicked myself for that one.

Hunters sleeping in not wanting to hunt in the weather that day or to drunk/hungover to make it to the stand. Or leaving the stand at 10:00 AM and not returning until the afternoon. The biggest deer I have ever seen killed was shot by a buddy at noon with a north wind gusting to 40 miles an hour. Miserable weather. I was back at camp drinking beer when he comes in with his buck. Lesson learned.

That old doe that you don't see that got downwind of you and that blows just as you are getting ready to shoot. the most frustrating thing in deer hunting. I enjoy the cat and mouse game with bucks, but ornery does will get shot with a rifle out of a bow blind.

This doe hangs on the edge of the tree line and looks for ways to ruin a set up. Shes living on borrowed time. I’ll get her one way or the other. Had a doe and two fawns come in easy and start eating and I see her skulking in the background. Though “ oh she will come in for sure” and for 30 min she just hung around in the shadows and finally blew when the winds started swirling. In a few more weeks I’m not above shooting her with my glock

The loudest noise in the world....The "CLICK" you hear when a hammer falls on an empty chamber. Then the buck trots away while you try in frustration to chamber a round.
Oh, and as to #5... Be sure to get to the blind early so you can get that done before the feeder goes off, LOL

Back in college we were doing some doe hunting. I was sitting with a buddy he had shot 2 and we were getting down to go look. As we walked down a big old doe stepped out of the brush facing us. snorted head high and stomped I leveled the mighty 223 (lol) and squeezed the trigger on a chest shot to hear the dreaded "CLICK" I worked the bolt and much to my surprise I remember it like slow motion seeing a bullet come out of the chamber, chambered another round and this time there was a bang and DRT.
Picked the other round up off the ground and saw the primer had a firing pin mark in it. It is the first and only no fire handload ive had in 20+ years. I pulled the bullet powder etc. looked fine.

And Red Wasps. Yep. 'Don't know why some guys just can't be bothered with buying a can of wasp spray, carrying it with you filling feeders before the season, and check the dang blind. #5 actually happen to me 45 years ago, the first year that my wife and I were married.......Yes, I'm bragging. It only happened once? I've said enough...my wife will kill me if she sees this. Don't go gettin' all shy. We had a blast filling feeders one time, decades ago. Cold left-over venison backstrap, an excellent Cabernet...and a flat rock in the middle of a little flowing creek in "Ghost Canyon". Definitely in the top-ten of the best days of my life.

Getting out of the stand too early. I used to hunt with guys that would get down by 8:30-9:00 without fail.

I can remember mornings in which I didn't see a thing until after 10am when it seemed someone had opened a gate and deer were everywhere. I killed my biggest East Texas buck around 10am which was about 30-45 minutes after several hunters had passed through the area on their ATV's headed back to camp. Given he walked in from the direction of the sound of those ATV's, I'm convinced to this day it was them that caused that buck get up from his bed and start moving about.
