No, but since I have a place I hog hunt near Carthage I do hope to eventually get down towards TB to scout for access and areas to hunt on the farthest north hunting areas. When I do, I'll be happy to share with you via pm what I find.

I found some woodies out there.

Jumped a hog too and found a hatchet. It was a sweaty 2 mile walk.

Hunted it east of Hemphill many years ago while in college, lots of ducks and teal season was epic.

If you are into fishing the sand bass run this is the best place in the state when the river is running, with lots of state records. LOT's of really big catfish from here too

Unfortunately for me, my family's place is in the southern end and I've yet to see any decent number of waterfowl in that end.

Middle section some times can hold birds, so I've been told.

Funny. Folks in central texas all say the migration is moving more east. Folks in Louisiana say the migration is moving more west.

I say they are held up just below the freeze line on refuges that get planted to hold them in place. But that is an entire different discussion.

I had my question answered, I appreciate it though. I just need to go out there and spend more time and get some things figured out.

I'm gonna say you're right on the freeze line, Why waste energy going farther south if you don't need to. I do believe that the state line is right in the middle of the flyways and we don't get much. But then again, all it takes is 1 day and you have ducks.

Interesting thing I learned on a podcast. A migrating mallards avg. speed is 50 mph. If they get up and get a 50 mph tailwind, that's 100 mph. So a mallard, or any duck really, can migrate 800 miles in one day. Just something to always keep in mind.

They can also go back and forth from north to south several times throughout a season. One study tracked a radio-collared mallard hen travel between east TX and eastern AR like 7 times in one winter....
