I have been in a Dick's Sporting Goods store one time about 15 years ago. Never again.

Dick's Sporting Goods CEO Ed Stack said his company destroyed $5 million worth of assault rifles as part of its tough stance on guns.

In his new book and in an interview with "CBS News Sunday," Stack shared how the company turned the guns into scrap metal.

Not a fan of Dick's at all. Agree with the comment, just a publicity stunt.

I never saw an "assault rifle" in Dick's. Nor do I believe I ever saw an AR. Their $5M claim... like Bobo said.

There are at least as many anti gun people as there are pro gun people, this was a 5 million dollar investment hoping tp gain the business of the anti's. It has been In all of the news, even on the local news, and there is not a store within a 150 miles. It has turned into a $5 million dollar advertising campaign. There sales last year were over $7.92 billion, the $5 million is insignificant. That is like comparing $79.10 to 5 cents.

The cost of the loss? That will be written off on the tax return. Today the stock price is up.

So, I guess it was Ed Stark who has been outbidding me recently on all the $100 SKS and Mosin-Nagant 'assault' rifles on gunbroker, eh?

The one Dick's store in the area, which had been around for a good 10+ years if memory serves, recently closed its doors. So it goes.

They run shotgun shells on special pretty often. I go there for those deals.
I shoot a lot of clays.

But I don't boycott anybody because they don't agree with my opinions.

Last week, Mrs LJ and I dined at at a restaurant in North Irving. I told her, the best part of eating at 54th Street is driving in front of of the closed Dicks!

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

I would have to see a video of them actually scraping the ARs to believe it. Looks like a move to try and recover business lost ( to Republican voters ) when they quit selling AR’s. Never darkened there door, and never will!!!!!!

The loss thus far from their policy changes is at 250 million and climbing.

"The 2018 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas high school in Parkland, Fla., led to Stack making even stricter changes to the gun selling policy. He announced that firearms would no longer be sold to anyone under 21, a decision that he says led to the company losing “about a quarter of a billion” dollars."

Does anyone know how much money an establishment makes on the sale of a hunting license? That is the only money I have spent at Dick's.
