Finally got around to cleaning out my garage and actually using my back yard shed to store tools I don’t use as often along with my lawn mower. When I opened the door I was swarmed with red wasp. I used 2 cans of wasp spray and killed probably 50 of them. Waited for them to fly off with the doors open and got a shovel and got the nest down from above the door and launched it across the fence. I put all my stuff into the shed and just to add on to the killing I put a fogger in there and closed the door. First time I go to get the mower out I open the door and get swarmed again. Get another can of wasp spray and kill probably 20 more also got one of those fake nest which they say drives wasp away because they don’t want to build a nest to another nest, it doesn’t work. No matter how many I kill every time I open the door 20-30 swarm out at me. I’ve now just go open the door very slowly then slam it and run, they swarm out and then fly off after about 5-10 minutes I can go over and get the mower. After mowing I go back to put the mower up and they are just sitting on the door and more docile so I kill 4-5 more with spray and put the mower up.

I haven’t gotten stung yet but it’s only a matter or time and I’m just tired of dealing with it. So if anyone has any pointers I’m all ears.

Wait until night to spay the nest. All of the wasps will be on the nest and you can get all of them at one time. They won't swarm you either because they are "asleep". You may have to do this a couple of nights to get all of them. I have done this for years with good success.

I would remove everything from the shed and see if you can locate any hidden nest. You can spray your wasp killer ( I spray gasoline) and remove all the nests. I would not put the equipment back in until they are definitely gone, so do it for several days. There is something in there that is making them return. Make it uncomfortable, so they will leave. Do it at night like mentioned above.

I would destroy the nest (burn it), rather than just throw it across the fence. The nest probably hold 100's of eggs. The wasp are probably just taking care of the nest across the fence.

Seems like when the nest is removed after spraying the wasps
the survivors return and build like nothing happened. When I've
battled the wasp with spray a couple times then left the nest hanging
with poison residue they've moved on. Or maybe I'm just an extremely
efficient wasp killer.

Tear down the nest after you spray. Done deal.

I concur!

I hate all wasps. I kill all I can even if they are not bothering anything. I actually go on wasp patrol in my barns just to kill them. I kill them slowly when possible.

I finally had to resort to gas.. They have a huge nest with 1000+ bogies. Mine weren't red wasps luckily.

Do this. Hot Shot No Pest Strips. $6 delivered Amazon Prime. Better than burning down. Not as fun though.

If the room is sealed pretty well then hang a couple of No Pest Strips inside the room. It won't keep them out but it will kill them over night. I have used them for years inside my deer blinds and barns to kill wasps, bees and yellow jackets. I replace them every 6 months or so.

I'm covered up with mud daubers. May try them in my garage.

I would go with the no pest strips. This time of the year it very well could not even be a nest involved but finding their Winter home. Especially f you managed to kill 50 without getting stung.

Haha can’t burn the shed or else I would have already done it.

So if I open the door at night time it won’t spook them or if I shine a flash light on them it won’t spook them? Problem is the nest or where the nest was and where they keep coming back to is right above the door. So effectively I’ll have to open the door, get inside the shed with them with a light on them and spray them without spooking them or getting stung in pitch black.

I’ll look for those pest strips and put them up all over above the door. I’ve tried soapy water in my 5 gallon sprayer to knock them out of the air and stomp on them but it’s not very effective. I’ll try the gasoline as well. Does it kill them like the wasp spray does?

Throw in a couple of foggers and run like your A double s is on fire. Then hang some Hot Shot Flying Insect repellent.
