Got my first bow kill of the season this evening. Had a couple of doe coming in and all of the sudden, about a dozen hogs showed up. I think they all scared the heck out of each other since they all kind of scattered in different dirctions. The doe freaked out and slipped on away from the feeder but 3 of the hogs eased back in for a snack. Since they had scared my doe, this was going to be a retaliation strike. One of the hogs moved just outside the feeder leg slightly quartering away at 30 yards. I slowly eased out of my seat and drew my bow, settled my 30 yard pin just behind the rib cage and slowly squeezed my release. The arrow set sail and I watched the lighted knock hit it's mark and the arrow passed through exiting just in front of the right front leg. The piggie let out a small squeal and ran about 10 yards and stopped, then slowly headed up a game trail. Just a short bit later I heard the little bugger pile up in some leaves and it was done. It was a small female of about 40-50 pounds and she didn't go more 50 yards or so. It was the perfect eating size so it is now cleaned and resting in a cooler to head to the processor tomorrow. I am super excited to start off my weekend with a harvest !!!! Can't wait to get back in my blind again for another round of man versus beast. I posted a pic of the view from my ladder stand to show you my archery set up.
