I know. I’m not really a rye guy in general.

Yuck.

Whats the matter with you? I thought you had good taste? This is not something you slam by the gallon, but with a good fire, or a Monday Night Football Game on a rare night with the house to yourself, maybe a cigar (I hate cigars) but spend an hour so sipping over a ball of ice. The world becomes a much better place.

I do. Lots of people recommended that bourbon, I bought it, hated it. Also hate Bulliet. There are much better for that price. I don’t slam them back, mix them, or ice them down.

Woodford doesn't get more "straight" than this: [Linked Image]
but they won't let you. It's not a destination place, but if you're in the area it is definitely worth a stop. Great grounds, not a bad sandwich lunch and the tour is interesting. You get to see some really historic stuff and can appreciate what goes into making it. I been to most of them near there, Woodfore Reserve has the nicest grounds. [Linked Image]

This is the THF so it would be wrong to leave out the fact that the biggest white tails I have ever seen in my life are on family land a few miles up the road.

I don't drink for the taste. I drink for how smart it makes me.

They had Booker’s marked at $95 tonight and were out of Knob 120. I went with Bakers. It’s one of their four small batches. Basil Hayden’s rounds it out. If you know where to shop Booker’s can be had in the $50s.

Funny I've never been a fan of ETL or anything from that mash bill.

My friends, I had not intended to discuss this controversial subject at this particular time. However, I want you to know that I do not shun controversy. On the contrary, I will take a stand on any issue at any time, regardless of how fraught with controversy it might be. You have asked me how I feel about whiskey. All right, here is how I feel about whiskey:

If when you say whiskey you mean the devil's brew, the poison scourge, the bloody monster, that defiles innocence, dethrones reason, destroys the home, creates misery and poverty, yea, literally takes the bread from the mouths of little children; if you mean the evil drink that topples the Christian man and woman from the pinnacle of righteous, gracious living into the bottomless pit of degradation, and despair, and shame and helplessness, and hopelessness, then certainly I am against it.

But, if when you say whiskey you mean the oil of conversation, the philosophic wine, the ale that is consumed when good fellows get together, that puts a song in their hearts and laughter on their lips, and the warm glow of contentment in their eyes; if you mean Christmas cheer; if you mean the stimulating drink that puts the spring in the old gentleman's step on a frosty, crispy morning; if you mean the drink which enables a man to magnify his joy, and his happiness, and to forget, if only for a little while, life's great tragedies, and heartaches, and sorrows; if you mean that drink, the sale of which pours into our treasuries untold millions of dollars, which are used to provide tender care for our little crippled children, our blind, our deaf, our dumb, our pitiful aged and infirm; to build highways and hospitals and schools, then certainly I am for it.

This is my stand. I will not retreat from it. I will not compromise.

I have not read 1% of your 56 thousand plus posts, but I am going to say this is your best post!
That formula applied to most things is classic. Moderation in all things.

Had the Bakers last night, wish I would have spent the money for the Booker’s. Fortunately someone brought some Lone Elm 114. If you like wheated whisky, which I do, you should give it a try. That’s if you can find it.
