We drew an E-Postcard waterfowl hunt . I'm not saying where yet cause I likely will get called out as a WMA namer, even though it's all public information smile. If anyone has been on one of these hunts please PM me with your observations. I will say it is in Texas.

I know, I know, I'm a state namer

There are a couple that were still not drawn as of last night. I was notified for the one we drew on the 2nd. The two that weren't drawn are pretty dry this year so i bet they are waiting to see what the rains do. These same ones were flooded last year.

Good call on not naming! Look at the past harvest data on TPWD to get a good idea of what to expect unless it's one of the one's new to the draw this year. One's that show as not drawn yet are wait and see due to water situation. I've done one previously and I've continued to put in for them but I'll also say that some are better than others. In general I would say TPWD does a great job of taking care of their waterfowl areas, whether they are within the lottery draw system or not.

What's the big deal with naming? The hunts are on the TPWD website . I drew one this year and it's not like someone can steal my spot on a drawn hunt. Please explain to me since I'm a newb to waterfowl.

It's an unwritten and written rule. Every duck hunter, would be duck hunter, people who walk or talk like a duck hunter and even some ducks read these posts. I try not to broadcast a lot of location info. It's there and can be found, I just prefer everyone do their own due diligence. Having said that, in private conversation, sworn to secrecy and backed up by a life termination agreement, I'll help out how I can on an individual basis. smile

It doesn't matter on a drawn hunt. that spot literally can't be stolen.

I put in at Richland Creek, yet to hear back.

Just hunted big lake bottoms. The area is very dry. Likely why they have held off on the draw. Just the opposite of last year.

I understand the code for regular public land hunts, just didn't see how it applied to drawn hunts where the date, time, and even compartment are assigned. No worries either way.

Not a big deal but I play it safe. Last year I got called out for region naming smile but in full disclosure I did mention North Texas.

Some of the WMAs do have public hunting dates. There are a few I don't hunt because it is literally a sprint to the water and I can't out run the young'uns. Have you ever seen a fat old fart trying to run with a sled full of gear and decoys? It's not a pretty sight.

I just looked and I'm Pending 2nd on both Playa Lakes WMAs. That's a long way to drive and the place sucks so y'all that just drew them should just give those permits back.
I wondered why Keechi and Richland still just showed application received. Lack of water would be a good reason.

The others are just to far for me to drive for a two morning hunt unless they were on the way to someplace else to hunt for extra hunt days so I have not put in for them. I have hunted the early season RC draw a couple times before it went to an all season draw and though I have not hunted Taylor Lakes for waterfowl, I have stopped there to Dove hunt twice while on a bird hunting trip to CO. Every year, weather, migration, water levels, is different. These hunts are stuck to certain dates so your at the mercy of same. So though I don't know how much help I could be, feel free to pm if anyone draws those.

If you get drawn for Taylor, go look at Greenbelt, I've heard it has okay hunting out there.

Well, we got drawn for a second e postcard waterfowl hunt. That's three e postcard hunts this year. All for naught though as I didn't draw squirrel. Who puts in for squirrel? Now I'm depressed.

And somehow TPWD screwed up and gave my sheep tag to the wrong person. All that money to grease the skids down the tubes.
