Might just hire it done and not worry about it.

I paid a service to handle my yard for over 15 years when I had small yards. The $30-$40 a week was well worth it to me. Now that I have moved to a 1.5 acre lot, I bought a zero turn and do it myself.

It will add up for that size lawn. They charge $100 in my area. There are several service trucks with 2 to 3 workers. A hundred dollars per week could be over a million dollars in 40 years at 8% interest.

I do mine, the creek bank behind me and sometimes I do my elderly neighbors, not relaxing for me it is a workout especially mowing the creek bank.

The only joy I get out of it is when it is done and I can ....

I pay $160 a month it’s a small yard, but I have 3 large oak trees, during winter bagging the leaves weekly and clean up is a real chore. I’ll used to pay him $125, but he said he needed more, so gave him what he wants he does a good job. It was nice to get the mower and weed eater out of the garage, more room for hunting gear.

I maintain my own pool, that’s enough. I hate having a pool, but my wife likes it.

Amen brother. One of the best things I ever did was get rid of the lawn mower, gas powered weedeater and blower.

You just don't have the right crew.

Do they treat your yard for weeds, too? Or just mow and trim and edge?

He fertilizes I think twice a year, which probably has weed control. And he keeps my flower beds weed free. He tells me he is probably going to stop mowing yards and do handyman work full time. He can fix anything, and does great stone work. He had been doing my yard for over 10 years.

I’m thinking about getting 2 story ladder pruning my own trees, because that is expensive.

I do mine. It’s about 1/5 acre and with my self propelled Honda, it’s done in less than 1/2 hour. I trim shrubs, and edge as needed. I figure it this way. It would cost me about $40 to have it done. Being retired I don’t make that much per half hour. BTW, the mower is 8 or 9 years old. This is my third Honda. The 2 previous ones each lasted17 years. I hope to out live it.

I got to one, an electric one. It won’t go 2 stories tho, I got some big oaks. I’ll need my pole saw and ladder.

Had complications from cancer surgery in 2016 and it bothered me that my wife and daughter were mowing while I was recovering. As soon as I could I was out there mowing. The first time could only do 1/4 of the yard but the next time it was almost half. Soon it was the whole thing and it's my way of saying "F*** you cancer!"

My grandpa mowed his own yard when he was 93 and I'm only 63 so hoping can still be doing it in 2049.

In the hottest months will edge and weed eat one day and mow the next sometimes.

Mowed mine today. Only takes an hour to do everything and that's checking email. Figure I save $2K. Same lawnmower for 14 years now. Changed air filter and oil only once! eek2 Only because it wouldn't start. And a guy gave it to me free!

Four weeks ago, I had another 16 pallets of Raleigh St. Augustine put in, essentially doubling my lawn area. I mow all of it it myself with a self propelled walk behind mower and edge it with a gas powered weed eater. The exercise is good for my 66 year old body - it really does make a difference. During the peak growing season, it needs it about every 6-8 days, so I typically do it after work - the upper half one day, then the lower on another day.
I do have a riding mower, but I don't like the way that it cuts on my heavily sloped, not level yard. A zero turn would work great.

That's kind of you, Bill. What about the rest of us? I have replied to many of your posts, including this one multiple times, and I don't see myself or many others that participate on your buddy list.

PS I don't see that you've added Sniper.270 to your buddy list yet either. Are you blowing smoke again?

First, somebody claiming "worst thread ever" is not an insult. Second, while it's certainly possible I have said that I doubt I have. If I have I'll stand by the comment and refer you back to my first point. Lastly, I highly doubt I have ever outright insulted you. You'd know if I did - it would be clear as day. Getting your feelers hurt because you can't handle a difference of opinion does not mean one insulted you. It's too bad you're so sensitive.

Carry on with the thread topic.
