My mower deck is now up on the top notch. I only have four sprinkler stations around my flower beds. I'm only running them once a week. Had a few October rains. My grass looks great. I set in my sunroom with my martini every night thinking that I am the luckiest man in the world. Sometimes I say it out loud.

Same here. I have my mower set on the highest level.

I did that the other day Bill, no martini though..... life is good, and I'm a lucky man.

You yelled at someone? You?

Here's a pic of what I was talking about. Its obvious where his yard starts isn't it? But for some reason he cuts 10ft on my side. [Linked Image]

Maybe he has an aversion to grass messing his perfectly groomed dirt..confused2

I loved mowing my yard, then drinking a beer.

Someone now does my yard. One less thing I have to do.

I entertained often back in the old days. I found that the lawn looks its best three days after mowing. Worked out fine for me.

This...now I just drink a beer watching someone else do the work. $25/week, money well spent.

I do not mind mowing but I just pay the man these days. Not enough time in the day to have to worry about doing yard work too.

Outsourced mowing my yard 10 years ago, I got so many other things I would rather do, like hunting and fishing or other projects around the house.

After next year and some leveling work I am going to a reel for the fenced in part. Do you use a push or a ride on triplex reel?

I haven't mowed my yard in years...........

I make too much money working to waste it on mowing, my time is too valuable

I like a nice looking yard, but striving for a perfect one has never given great meaning to my life. 'Different strokes. I pay someone.

I do mine and my next door neighbor's. He's an older fellow that broke his neck in a corvette crash some years ago. It is kind of nice that our yards look very uniform. Also, he pays me in beer.

If I ignore mine long enough the wife will give in and do it. I live 1/3 mile from my nearest neighbor so I am not big on lawns.

I just updated my checking account to a little ledger. It had grown $52,,000 from a year ago today. It's not about money for me. As I posted in my OP, its relaxing for me. My guess is that several people who mows their own lawns make as much money as you.

Don't mind mowing but I hate to use the weed eater so I just hire it out!

A body at rest will remain at rest while a body in motion tends to stay in motion. While I did it to save money when I was younger, mowing my own yard with a push mower has become my way of making sure I'm staying in good health. I have a self-propelled mower but found a cheaper and more light-weight mower actually makes the job go faster. It takes me about 90 minutes to mow the front and back, edge, weed eat, and blow off the sidewalk and curb. When I was younger I could do it all without a break but at 60 I feel I'm entitled to a water break or two.

If I had a physically demanding job I would probably hire it out.

ha, I only do the edging (weed eater) and trimming around the house about every 3rd to 5th time I mow ... I hate running a weed eater and usually end up with a burn or blister on my arm from the exhaust (and yes I have tried holding it at different angles / positions)

Every once in a while I get lucky and take off a little early to go home and mow the yard and get there and my FIL has already done it. During the summers he is off Fridays and several times he will load up his mower mow his MIL's yard his moms yard, my yard and his other daughters yard then pick the grand kids up for an ice cream on the way home. Its a nice treat for everyone.
