I would say has more to do with deer position and shadowing.

I think its the shadowing, has white in ears around eyes and nose and hocks. Does look to have a darker than average coloration thought too.

The sun, at this time of day, is to the right and behind the camera. There are no trees remotely close to cast a shadow on her and the shadow on the right doe is cast by my little alafalfa elevated stand thingy.

That deer is also in fall coat and I think the other two are still in summer coat or partially in summer coat.

Could be a bit melanistic but I think its mostly just shadowed.
