Enjoy. I got certified in St. Thomas while working there after work. Oh the good ole days. Don't dive off Cabo!
What's the problem with diving in Cabo? We have a time-share there and was thinking about doing a trip next time. Charlie Probably just the day we went. Huge current. We dove off the Arch, aka end of the world. First dive was okay near Lovers Beach but 100+ feet and saw the sand waterfalls. 2nd was at the end of the world and current was trying to rip us out to open water. I literally ripped my hands up trying to hold onto anything. Finally made it to that rock you see with seals on it. I surfaced as fast as my bubbles allowed. There was a girl on her cert dive which was not possible. The owners and dive masters started fighting. Go to Los Cabos for better diving. Let's just say I drank a lot after that.

I went through Scuba Steves Dive shop in Tyler. I actually have my check dives this weekend at the dive lake in Terrell. Give them a call, if Tyler is too far for you to drive then they would probably know if anyone is closer to you. Scuba is fun! Yep Tyler is to far, I have heard about a scuba lake around Athens, have you been? The Scuba lake in Terrell is better. Terrell is a 22 acre life lake(fish and stuff in it), Athens is only a couple of acres and no fish or life in it. Athens has some cool stuff sunk in it but the water is acidic and they use a lot of alum so the bottom stirs up easy and its harder on your gear.

By the way, Cozumel just shut down diving on a large part of the reefs there. trying to let them recover.

Not that anybody cares...……… But, I been certified, for years...……. Took the ex diving...… Jerked her regulator out, and pull her bikini to her ankles...…… You'd be surprised, which one she grabbed first...…...

I can tell you who NOT to go with in Grand Cayman; Living the Dream Divers. They were horrible. Very sloppy. Best way to do it is to get the online part out of the way here and do the referral course there. By all means go to stingray city. We went with Captain Marvin. Nice boats and good people. You'll really enjoy it. We did the online part here and did the referral course in Cozumel. How long are you going to be there? You'll need three days to do the open water referral course.

I took a “resort” course in GC. Diving wasn’t for me, I thought it was boring. It may have been different if I knew what I was doing.
Have fun in GC. I love that place.
I always go to Stingray City with Soto’s. It’s a small business he runs out of his house on a palm island road.
You got a place to stay yet?

I was at the dive lake in Terrell all day today. Definitely some nice sized bass in there! They have a plane, a couple of large boats and the big metal shark sunken in there. The plane is suspended which is cool. Also saw lots of freshwater jellyfish which I never even knew existed. Water was plenty warm down to the thermocline at about 29', very comfortable in just swim trunks and shirt. Visibility about 15-20'. Costs $20 for the day.

Frisco Dive shop would be pretty close for you. On Gaylord, south of the Lowe’s, on east side of Preston.

Check the scuba shop on Greenville Ave in Dallas. Why not off Cabo? I did, only place I ever dove and had a life threatening experience, almost ran out of air and had to pull out my mouth piece, and breath off of dive masters air, at 90'. My course was a few minutes talking to the "dude" that owned the shop before we headed out. That was my fourth dive, on the second day, and last. You're doing it right, get certified, the right way.
An unethical shot is one you take, that you know you shouldn't.

Total 6 days so really 4 full days, we are staying in Old Man Bay on the North East side of the Island. The dive shops around here were from $475- $495 so it appears that I can get it done for a lot less $$ plus have my dive included. PADI online $190 + $149 for the remainder and dive =$339.00. Question looking at these two Dive shops Eden Rock on the West side and Ocean Frontier on the East side, they seem to have the same deal for $149. Preference on which side of the island and I guess I need to do the PADI online before I go? Try Scuba Diving in the Cayman Islands without the hassle of getting a diver certification. Authorized PADI 5 Star Dive Center. Good thing about the Caymans; a lot of good dive sites and you can't get better water. As mentioned, two easy dives are Eden Rock and Devils Grotto. Convenient, shallow dives with a lot of neat coral. Bad thing about the Caymans; everything is expensive. Cayman dollar is US $1.25. It kinda tricks you as a $10 hamburger is really &12.50 or 25% more. Great place to go but you won't come back with near as much money as you took.

Almost ready to go Got our passports back and made reservations for the dive, now I need to make a quick decision on an inexpensive (under a $100.00) waterproof camera or video camera? (Eden Rock Diving Center <info@edenrockdive.com> To: David or Deborah Landry Oct 20 at 8:44 AM Great, thanks David. Please be at the dive shop for 8.30 am so you can fill out the paperwork and we can get your gear organised. See you then, Kind regards, Rachel) Had a little issue getting my passport at first. My birth certificate that I gave them was the original from the hospital and was rejected because it did not have the embossed state seal, dates or signatures which I understand. So my poor wife had to go through the long arduous hassle of calling certain agencies to have a new one made for me and sent back to us, then we sent it to the passport people for completion and I received mine yesterday.

A lot easier to go underwater on a vehicle sir, but the ride wouldn't be as fun as what you have planned

If you have a GoPro or can borrow one, just get one of the waterproof cases. They work great, take stills and video.
