Because of bad feet and ankles I have to give up my spot on an after deer season quail lease north of Throckmorton. PM me if you are interested. 16K acres and very green. You will need a place to stay, a couple motels in Seymour but none open in Throckmorton. Or call $2400.00

There is time, and you must take it, to lay your hand on your dog's head as you walk past him lying on the floor or on his settle, time to talk with him, to remember with him, time to please him, time you can't buy back once he's gone" GBE

Does this mean your days of bird hunting are over completely?

Mine will not be far behind.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Well I don't own a horse, my problem is I learned (the hard way) you need to stop the Polaris several yards from the dog on point. My weak azzed ankles and feet twist easy and I have fallen several times. Now to be blunt I am a lard azz and the joints are worn from carrying way too much weight. I do plan to see a doc to see if they can be repaired and I have lost 20# in the last 2 months. I owe it to Jack the setter to try and get back at it.

Ray, I used to twist my ankles almost every weekend birdhunting. I have twisted them so much it quit hurting. I have a friend who is a podiatrist. He got me a foot brace. It is a nylon type bootie you can wear your shoes over. This is the important part. The brace has straps on the legs that go done under the arch of you foot and cross there and then velcro on the sides of your leg. I wore it around 6 months . I have not twisted my ankle in several years now. The brace should be able to found for under $80. Good luck......... Another thing is to look up liquid Vitamin D3 with Vit K in it. This helps a lot with balance. I am not clumsy any more!!!!

Your welcome bobcat.
Ray, you might need to order them online. Do not get the cheapest and make sure those straps cross under the arch of your foot. When the straps are pulled up the sides of your leg, it lifts you foot some, so it stabllizes and takes the pressure off of your ankle, so your ligaments can heal. I bird hunt soybean fields. I twisted my ankles almost every time out. Have not twisted it in a yr or 2 now.....
Concerning the Vit D3 w/ K. I used to have to grab my wife's dresser when I got out of bed in order to get my feet/legs stabilized. I now grab it just to make sure I do not
stump my toe. I get up and go... Good luck
