I always enjoy trying to find deer from year to year and following them from one year to the next. Some deer are pretty easy to follow while others take a lot of searching for scars, markings, etc.

This year, I have a deer that I am confident I had pictures of in 2018 but have wavered on the pictures I think I have from 2017. Same frame but the 2017 buck just seems a little different. Either way, I will keep looking to see.

Last year was an odd year for us, as the late Winter and Spring was dry but the Summer and Fall were very wet. Most of the antlers looked like they do in drought years with the exception of a couple of deer that turned out bigger than expected.

This deer made a great jump from last year to this year though and thought I would share.

Is he really 11? He is in really good shape!!! Are you feeding double down? It would explain his big jump

No, only a MF9 and has 10 if you count the small sticker off his G2.

You bet! Started feeding protein at one stand on 10k acres and all my deer have made 15-20% jumps from last year. It is crazy because I have always believed you can't buy antlers in a bag, but the proof is in the pictures grin

Date was messed up on that camera. Was in 2017. Same genetic line and triggered a memory when this one showed up. He was to make the point that sometimes it is hard to tell a deer from year to year in some cases. I do not believe he is the same deer because when I looked back, his age and antler structure wasn't the same. If last year hadn't been a dry spring, I think I very well could have mistaken them for the same deer if I wasn't looking closer.

So is he on the hit list this year?

To be sure of hitting the target, shoot first and call whatever you hit the target.

You are doing a great job convincing me to switch from L&E to Double D. I fed 15 tons on my 20acre lease and I’m just not getting over 112, I have hired a hunting consultant that specializes in small lease hunting for 150’s to teach me to hunt better, think next step is to fire my nutritionist.
