My hunting boots wore out. Looking for best brand - waterproof and comfort at top off list. Non insulated. Suggestions?

Do you have time to break them in?

I’m a fan of Hanwag’s last, specifically models Yukon and Alaska.

I have a couple pair of Danner's, very happy with them.

Hi tlk. Ive been so busy with old lease and now my new place that I haven't had time to say hi. I cant offer a lot on the boots. I always use Ariat for lots of stuff except hunting. For hunting ive had Rockys forever. But im admitted to being old school and when ive had something forever I just stay with it. I haven't done any research on boots in forever so I bet theres lots of good stuff out there. You know this forum is the way to find out so we will see what you get. Good luck.

yep- CRISPI or Danner. Danner being the lower cost but Crispi being the better boot with no break in at all.

Danner's are good. The lighter models they make with the glue on soles are easy to break in and are made in China due to the adhesives they use. The stitched sole boots are tough as nails but are heavy and take a while to break in.

I buy a new pair of Asolo hiking boots about every 3-4 years which is how long it takes me to wear them out. I wear them for everything from backpacking, to work in a metal shop pretty much every day, to hunting. I do have pair of muck boots that I change into sometimes when I am hunting from a blind on our place but most of the time I am wearing my Asolos and have been for probably 18 or so years now. I usually buy them at REI.

Danner Pronghorn's are my go to boots.

Not sure what you consider hunting boots that are non-waterproof. That said, I just got a new pair of Lucchese Barn Boots and they are like butter.

I said waterproof. Not insulated

Crispi Nevada is another good one, no matter what but two pair current size and half size up to see which fits better and then send other back.

There are many great brands out there. Fit is the biggest thing. I started to buy Danner a few years ago but went with Red Wing (Irish Setter) and I am very pleased. water proof with no additional treatment for over 5yrs. great soles and very comfortable.

I bought some danner sharptail snake boots. Wear more like a shoe than a boot and are waterproof. They tore apart on me, but I straight up abused them, wear them everyday, walk in briars, was always wading in them last year, really a good boot, just didn't hold up to my abuse.

I also have a pair of these, actually a hiking boot, but I love them. Extremely light, good ankle support, and waterproof with the gore-tex.

I used to wear the Cabela’s outfitter series boots and they were great. When BPS bought them, they started making them in china and now they suck. Finally found another affordable boot I like that holds up. I am on my second pair of redwing Irish setter elk hunters. I’m a forester and if a boot will hold up to what I put it through for more than a year, It will last the average guy several years.

I wore Danners for years and had good success with them. A few years ago at SHOT, Steve and I decided to look at products with every footware company there. After hands on comparisons, we both agreed that Lowa boots appeared to be the most comfortable and best made for the money. Since that time, I have purchased only Lowas and have been satisfied with their comfort and durability.

Lowa makes some nice boots and have models with different width options.

Agreed. I wear Danner Pronghorn Snake Boots for all of my hunting. They are at least 15 years old & still going strong.

If you buy a pair, don’t stand on wet rocks before the soles get scuffed pretty good.

Same here. My backups are Justin Stampede snakeboots. Both in side zip.

I personally have had good luck with Kenetrek boots. Not cheap but are very will built. I have friends who have crispis and rave about them. Also cabelas used to have a boot called Mendhal after the Alaskan glacier. They are excellent boots as well.
