We didn't have TV when I was a kid. We could not have used it if we had. We didn't have electricity until after the big war when REA came to the country.

I also remember watching
Simon & Simon
Hunter
Hardcastle & McCormic
Riptide with the screaming Mimi helecopter

Boy I loved me some Saturday night wrestling with the Von Erich’s and the Freebirds too. Remember the Ice Man King Parson & Buddy Roberts hair match... those were the days. Dad used to get mad and say...you kids with that wrestling... that’s not even real... turn that fake crap off. Lol

We had electricity but no TV. We had to go to the grandparents house or the neighbors house a several miles away. We were country when country wasn't cool.

Uncle Jay Show
Howdy Doody and Clarabelle the Clown
Rama of the Jungle - used to scare me to death as a kid. I knew they were going to end up in the pot eaten by cannibals
Wrestling out of San Antonio-All the neighborhood men would get together and watch. Pepper Gomez was the favorite because he was a clean fighter. As a little kid, the talk of taking an ax handle to Pepper Gomez's opponent was serious. I'm glad we lived 70 miles from San Antonio. Those old men I believe would have caused quite a scene if they showed up at the wrestling ring.

All the rest mentioned above came later as we finally got a TV also. My entertainment was mostly a 22 in one hand and a rod and reel in the other. I wouldn't trade my time as a kid for all the iPads, iPhones, and Xboxes these kids have now. When the grandkids come to the ranch or farm, those things are not allowed. They go build forts, hunt arrowheads, hunt rabbits and anything in season, go fishing. The stories they come back with are priceless.

Roy, Gene and Hopalong.
Zorro
The Aquanauts
Route 66
Sky King
Wanted Dead or Alive
The Rebel
Have Gun Will Travel
Sea Hunt
Combat and Rat Patrol

Saturday nights at grand parents included Oprey music, Gunsmoke, Death Valley Days, The Naional Anthem and a test pattern.

Sunday after church was Wide World of Sports.

Except in summer, then it was plinking, hunting wabbits and birds, catching crawdads, cutting wood to build fires, building fires to boil crawdads, or building home made fire works.

If the 2nd amendment was written just to include guns for hunting, why is there not an amendment to protect fishing poles?

Gunsmoke is my favorite to this day.
I never watched cartoons on Saturday like most kids. I got up early and tried my best to slip out of the house. I still had chores to do but I liked to do them on my terms. I know dad was on to me but he let me get away with it most of the time.

On Saturday nights my folks watched Lawrence Welk and if we knew what was good for us we kept our mouths shut.

I had forgot about the Lawrence Welk Show. Mother and Dad drove to Dallas one week end to attend his show. Mother even danced with him. Remember the part of the show when all of the ladies would crowd around him and tap on his shoulder to dance with him. She came home on cloud 9. Later on in years in their 80's and 90's, they would watch the Big Joe Polka Show. They danced a million miles together and were married 70 years before Mom passed at 91 and Dad at 99.

Ok, a few more

The Red Skelton Show
The Carol Burnett Show
The Ed Sullivan Show

I was gonna post Rat Patrol. Barely remember it, but I know it was awesome!

And Dean Martin had a young African-American lady back up singer on his special. I was just a little tike, but I was madly in love... grin My parents didn't smoke and hardly ever imbibed. Dean did both profusely, on stage, and had women laying all over his piano. He was my hero. up
