Thank you unclebubba,

My rilfle is a 308 Savage 111 TROPHY HUNTER XP, I am using FEDERAL PREMIUM .308 WIN 165 GR GAMEKING BTSP.

Well the story is.....I paid for a hog hunt guide to shoot a hog. For months I had been practicing shooting targets at 50 to 100 yards at the bench at the shooting the range.

I assumed I would be sitting at the blind at the guided ranch. BUT the guider said first he wants to take me on walk in the woods to sneak up on some hogs on foot. My eyes went big and heat thumbing, because I never did a stalk and hunt before, I always assumed I would sit comfortable in a blind.

I was scared at first walking around seeing this big hogs and stuff. But I the scary went away once I saw about 3 hogs but I had no time to setup and aim and shoot.

Then I saw two hogs walking near each other about 40 yards, the guider told me hurry and aim and shoot.

I kneeled down and remember one thing "if I keep still and relax and slowly pull trigger, I can't miss".

Awarkdly the hog walk twoards me, I started to shoot in the head but the guider said wait until he turn sideways. I waited, he turned sideways, I quicly aimed at the upper shoulder, breath, breath out, relax, kept the aim still, and slowly pulled the trigger, follow through.

My first reaction was "please hog fall and start shaking your legs like the youtube vidoes". But it took off running. The guider said I hit it. I follow it as it run, and it rolled over on the ground. The best feeling ever.

lol

That's a pretty good first pig hunt. Congrats! A lot better than sitting in a comfortable blind. Welcome to the brotherhood of the outdoors. Your checkbook will never be the same again LOL

Thank you hetman,

YES, when the guider told me, we going walk around first instead of going to blind, I was a bit scared just walking around looking at hogs and possible snakes on ground. lol

But I lighten up after seeing a few hogs pass by and staying the wood.

Yes, I rather walk and stalk hogs then in blind.

I need to buy a shooting stick for better accuracy when walking around.

congratulations. Definitely get you a shooting stick. The light weight inexpensive ones work fine.
