I shot this guy last year on the last day of the season. I have really wanted to mount a spoony as I have most every other duck mounted, and honestly think it's a cool looking bird. This is by far the best looking one I've ever shot. I also broke part of his wing, but I don't think that should matter. Give me your thoughts.

Depends on what else I had.
I would but if I could only mount one or two every couple years I would hold off.
He's definitely mount worthy though.

I appreciate all the feedback. Brady Buck to answer your question I have a Mallard, Pintail, Canvasback, Hooded Merganser, Wood Duck, Red Head, and a Wigeon on the wall. I hunt pretty religiously during the season so I'm really picky on the quality of the duck I mount. Eventually I will want one of every species, but I want them to be in perfect plumage. This is definitely the best I've seen, but I know people at the coast kill these like mosquitos, and wanted to make sure it was in 100% full plumage. The Taxidermy bill is a little to high to be re-mounting species of ducks, especially a shoveler.
Side note, I also kind of want to mount this bird because it's a symbol of the struggle of the 2018-2019 season. Also the 6th bird of my limit on the final day of the season.

The fact that it has some meaning to you should make your choice a little easier.

Spoonies are the best duck out there, if you don't mount it you'll regret it...

Here is the perfect spoony mount. If you're going to copy that I'd say go with it. If not I'd hide it in your dad's boat.

I would do that mount, except I know exactly what a spoony is when I see it, and don't shoot them unless I plan on eating them(or mounting in this situation). I don't need to slap the trigger to have a good hunt. I've seen a group of 4 people on this forum (a few on the thread) shoot a 4 man limit of spoonies with little remorse. They are definitely not the smartest ducks, but can make a hunt on a tough day, and are extremely good looking birds when in full plumage. I guess your right about it being daddy's boat. Daddy's been stacking limits this season and ducknbass has been on his keyboard. Maybe if you ask daddy nicely he'll take you on a half decent hunt, but I doubt it.

PS I'll shoot a limit of boot lips quick put them right in the freezer Alright I might’ve jumped the gun on that comment. Still getting used to this forum thing. [censored] definitely aren’t my first choice of duck but they seem to come in when everything else won’t. I’ve saved a few hunts with a big flight of them. In this situation last year there were a bunch of pintails but could only shoot 2, could’ve had 20 that morning. Just trying to scratch out a few variety ducks and this guy came by. I’m really upset they are dropping the limit to 1 pintail. Idk where they do there surveys but i see more pintails then any other big duck. They definitely don’t do it in the panhandle or North texas.
