Replacing an old Sta-rite jet pump our well at our place. Thing was still pumping but the actual pump housing where it connects to the motor was leaking. Was told submersible is the way to go. See them priced anywhere from 100 bucks on up to several hundred dollars. Any recommendations? This is a well that is at most 30 ft. around deep. Water level is half that.

1/2 horse 110v submersible (deep well) pump, about $200, should do great and last a long time.

submersible that matches the voltage available, 220 is better.

Not sure of the HP but my Aerobic sewer system has a 120V submersible that will pump about 10 gals a minute. It should work good in a shallow well. Mine has been pumping for a little over 20 yr.. They could be bought at Home Depot a few years back but most any aerobic system installer should be able to get one for you.

Thanks I went with a 3/4 hp 2 wire. Went ahead and replaced everything in that well house. I'm needing some heat cord now so that I can protect those 3 or 4 days of work from freezing up. I don't wish water well work on my worst enemy. It was like a great big puzzle that you had no idea what pieces you needed. Murphy was along for the ride as well.
