Soccer mom ride, how do you easily haul dead deer, fishing poles, bags of feed, etc in a SUV? I am saying "easy" because being able to throw stuff in a pickup bed is. I’ve carried 24 bags of corn, fishing gear and 2 dead deer in the back of Jeep Cherokee. Three separate occasions but still. Company vehicle can do a lot of things

I remember my great uncles love affair with K5 blazers... many trips were made to the deer lease in a blazer with 4 people and a 1000+ pounds of corn with a 5x8 trailer with a Polaris 6 wheeler on the back... you talk about tail waggin the dog lol another part of my life im surprised I lived through.

Your allowed to have your opinions and I’m allowed to have mine.
I had a Yukon for a while, absolutely no possible way I’ll be towing 5,000 lbs with a mini truck platform. I agree and only reason we can is we have very good trailer with surge disk brakes on both axles that function flawlessly ... I test drove with trailer before buying our last 3 vehicles for my wife. 99% of the time nothing towed but I wanted something capable if/when needed.

A 4Runner is.... It’s an SUV. A Tacoma is a “mini” truck. And I love my Tacoma.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

It’d be cool to have a 3/4 ton diesel for the sake of bed space, interior space and a lot more towing capacity but I can count on two fingers when any of that would’ve been useful in the last 4 years. Other than the boat (1800lbs loaded), I don’t pull anything else. What I give up in space, I definitely gain in getting to those spots where a full size would bury itself.

I actually fit pretty easy. A little right on the left leg but more front to back leg room than most trucks. The cargo space is quite large
I like the basic controls and knobs. I question power in passing and such. I don’t really tow anything big
I’ll never have or get Pilot or a traverse

We had a 4Runner. Forget what year. Loved it. The next suv was a Honda Pilot, and we loved it too. It had way better third row seats than the 4Runner did. Finally gave the Pilot to a granddaughter in college, and she couldn’t kill it. We replaced the Pilot with a Lexus RX350, and it was really great, till some moron ran us off the road. Bought another Lexus RX350 and like it better than the previous one.
If anyone is thinking Highlander, don’t get the basic engine. Not enough power. Rented one for a week and liked the vehicle but the engine was underpowered.
If anyone is thinking Pilot, if they still have that push button transmission, ask them what to do if you go through a car wash. The tranny was a deal killer for me. But if you never go through a car wash, no problem.

I remember the real mini-trucks and the mini-truck craze. We were all going to be driving them by now, if we weren't in our flying cars. Right before I got in the family truck equipment business, manufacturers were redesigning their butts off with specialty bodies for the little things. WRONG. We didn't get stuck with too much worthless inventory, but we had a few pieces of worthless junk. Those things were a lot smaller than they are now.

In April a methed up POS pulled out in front of my wife who was 8.5 months pregnant. She called me crying saying she was in a bad wreck and i thought the worse. I hauled [censored] to crash scene and when i saw her car my heart sank. After a night in hospital she was discharged next morning with nothing more than a bruised shoulder from seat belt. A week later our son was born and we drove home in a brand new white four runner. She says she will never drive anything else.

We have a 2017 4x4
It lacks in get up in my opinion, rides like a covered wagon, shows 17 mph, it’s built like a tank
I’m wouldnt call myself a fan boy
We went all Toyota 2 years ago, I WAS a Chevy guy. Just got fed up
Tundra and 4Runner
The resale and reliability is unmatched. The 4Runner is one of the highest resale of any, year after year
I finally caved myself at almost 40 years old
I’m convinced both will last 300k with little to no maint

Wife has a 16 Limited, our first Toyota probably our last too unless we are just blown away by this resale value everyone speaks of when we sell it. The first two years she had trouble with the radio/entertainment system, I bet we took it to the dealer 15 times. About 2 months ago they put in the 3rd radio I believe and fingers crossed it hasn’t had any problems since then. The interior of those things are lacking for sure, but hers does have cooling seats contrary to what an earlier posting said. https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/7370305/re-toyota-rant#Post7370305

I haven’t owned a new one but of the ones I’ve owned they are pretty consistent
Ok gas mileage. Far from great though Not the greatest get up and go but it gets there Reliable Resale was pretty good
Last one I sold had 399k on it if I remember correctly. It’s been 10 plus years ago and the guy I sold it to is still driving it
Now these were 80’s models and a lot has changed. I looked at the new ones in the spring but when I tow I’d max it out and I don’t like getting that close. I think tow capacity is only 5k pounds.
