2015 5.0 50,000 miles. Always used motorcraft semi synthetic 5w-20 and a motorcraft filter. Change every 5000 miles. Should I go full synthetic? If so why

I don't think it really matters much. Most important part is changing it regularly. I've always changed at 5k intervals and have never had oil related problems, ever.

Check out https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/

Most oils are fine (I prefer 100% synthetic) but believe the biggest mistake most people make is going with the ultra-cheap oil filter the quick lube places provide. Do some research on oil filters and find one with the lowest micron filtration size. I've read studies from bearing manufacturers that indicate most wear occurs due to the amount and size of particulates suspended in the oil.

I have mine changed each year at Juffy Lube when I get my inspection sticker. Im not sure what they put in there. It's across from HEB where I renew my license.

Never check it or have it checked.

Wix or Napa gold, 16 microns filtration.

I always use synthetic and only change the oil when my truck tells me. Honestly, probably a waste of money because I don't keep anything over 100k miles.

I have always ran Mobile full synthetic with Wix or AC delco filter. Recently passed 210K and she still runs great. Since you have ran motorcraft that long I would just stick with what you have been running. That is good oil

I run whatever the dealer throws in it so they’ll warranty it.

105,000 on our ford on motorcraft oil still doesn’t use a drop of oil. The motorcraft is good oil and is pretty darn cheap I wouldn’t change a thing.

313k on mine using conventional 15/40 Rotella. At 295 ford decided to put Ford partial synthetic in it. Damn truck had a stroke. Leaked everywhere for a week. Now I’m running what ford put in it but I wish they would have left it alone. Bottom line, if you’re going to switch do it now. The factory ford oil designed for it is good oil. Just don’t use Penzoil, I wouldn’t put that [censored] on my bicycle chain.

Nothing I’m sure. Just personal preference. I’ve saw things I didn’t like about it but I’m no chemical engineer or whoever it may be who knows these things.

Aside from changing it regularly, the main advice I've gotten is to use the same stuff every time. If you go full synthetic, stick to it. If you don't, then don't.

I run full synthetic (Castrol or M1, 5w-20) in mine and wife's trucks and my 1977 Scout gets Valvoline conventional (10w-30) because that's what the guy that rebuilt the motor 18 yrs ago said to use.

I personally would not run that in a lawn mower. Much less anything of value
