I like making knives from darn near anything. Sheffield sheep shears from long ago, a lot of cutting and grinding, and I went with a forced patina with some mustard and lime juice. Walnut burl handle and had to get creative on how to attach the handle with brass pins. I'm still on the fence if it's ugly or not, but it sure fits in the hand nice and those sheep shears have new life.

That old high carbon steel sparked like nothing I've ever seen on my grinder. I know there are super steels these days that are hard as can be and are corrosion resistant, but that old steel just seems to make good knives.

Oh it's definitely ugly, but beyond cool. I love that you repurposed it and kept the stampings on it. I'd own it!

Did you anneal it prior to working it or work it as it was?

I don't make knives to sell, I make them for friends, family and myself. I think if I sold them it would be more like work rather than fun.
