This guy did a lot for quail hunting in Texas--bankrolled a lot of research.
(He also irrigated a lot of the quail pastures on his ranch so he would have birds in drought years.)

I read an article about him called "The man who could make it rain". It explained how he groomed his ranch with irrigation etc.
