Most of us who go on out of town hunts are taking a separate vacation of sorts. My wife and I Took it a step farther after she retired. I continued my hunting, trailing, and fishing trips while she held down the fort. She made her vacation trips wile I did the same. It worked out great for us. Thoughts?

My wife and I took separate vacations for a long time. She flew to Puerto Rico to visit family and I headed off the mountains for a week of primitive camping.

Some spouses sleep in separate beds or bedrooms too. Some have separate checking accounts. Seems to me those are more an indication of cohabitated living rather than a marriage. My thoughts is an occasional trip without the other spouse is OK, but not regular trips without the other spouse. Not talking weekend hunting trips to the lease or whatever, but week or longer trips.

we do both ... mine is usually off hunting or to fill feeders/maintenance during the off hunting season ... she is usually off to tend to grandbabies ... together also spend a week in the PNW on a mission trip with our church, multiple long weekends to the lake and usually a 4-5 day weekend trip elsewhere.

A little absence makes the heart grow fonder. I take multiple short hunting trips and usually a week+ hunt and fish trip each year. She doesn't like to participate in either. She takes an annual long weekend girls trip and once did a week long girls only vacation. We do vacation each year together too. She

Both. In college I taught my wife to play golf and she took to it like a duck to water...she absolutely loves it! Just about every vacation centers around some bucket list course somewhere. Now that we have kids it is more about them, but we still try and tie it in somehow if we can. She also does a girls trip with a big group and has for years. I will go hunting and fishing with the guys when time permits.

We started taking separate vacations when hotel rooms no longer turned my wife on. The separate ones worked out fine for our pets. No kennels or pet setters needed.

I won a few trips from Pfizer. We went together and one of my salesmen stayed in my house. The pets were happy.

I take (2) one month vacation each year to Philippines, my wife takes a 2 months vacation there. Works out great.

We will take a one week trip around Christmas to Cancun, and then usually for Christmas we will go to a island in the Bahama area for a week, we do these together.

Some folks do separate vacations and are cool with it. My wife and I have been married 7 years and don't like being apart for the work day, come home and snuggle on the couch and watch tv after the kids are in bed.

My inlaws sleep in different rooms in the same house most of the time. My parents are like dogs in heat, I have a key to their house, but I knock if they are home...

No separate vacations for us.

Before the daughters grew up, married, had kids, and got insanely busy, they and the wife would go on a girl’s vacation. It was good for all of us. And when the MiL was living, the wife would take her to Vegas every year. After a week with her mother, I became a wonderful person in her eyes (for a short while).

Now the kids are too busy and the MiL is gone, so the wife and I do a good bit of traveling - domestic and overseas. That said, we are both truly sick of flying, so we spend more time in the Travel Trailer.

Sure wish I could talk her into quail hunting.

603,
Just bring home a couple bird dog pups one day. Tell your wife one of them is hers, then she will help take care of them. Come time for quail season, tell her it’s time for the dogs to go to work. She will enjoy watching the dogs work, and make sure she brings a camera. That’s how I get away with it!

That is the way my MIL is. As long as I am paying, I am the greatest thing since sliced bread. As soon as I stop and she goes back home, I go back to being the one that has stolen her daughter and ruined her life. That woman ain’t right in the head. confused2

My wife wouldn't buy that. She likes to go hunting, she drops me off at the cabin, then heads to San Angelo and "hunts" bargains at the stores. clap She returns about 30 minutes after sundown and we would go to eat at Lowake or Ballinger.

I say do what works best for your marriage.

For years the wife and I worked at home together so separate vacations were nice for both of us at that time.

Before I lost weight I snored and moved to the guest room when it was time to actually sleep, that helped our marriage

Now we sleep in the same bed all night and vacation together because that is what works for us now.

Wife and I take a nice 7-10 day vacation together every summer. Rest of my vacation is spent on hunting, fishing or guiding. She takes a girls trip with her female cousins every spring. Works pretty well for us. up
